Yeah Doc' an injury concern. He missed like 30% of games from 24-34, but when he was most effective, at 24-27, he only missed more than 6 games once (although he did miss like 30 games). But yeah, he fits in more with my Hill/Kemp/Sabonis picks, so from here on out, expect me to build more around my Durant/Posey core.

And since neither of them are really great at setting people up, it's goint to be "okay, it's your turn this time....okay this time is my turn...etc"
If Wade/Ellis/Wallace are standing by the 3pt line, you best believe I will cheat off them and be able to recover in the time they get to the midrange spot.

If they all stand around the midrange, it will be so clogged in the middle there will be very little room for any of them to drive (you forget that both ur PF/C are going to be near the hoop too).

You need floor spacing, its a must in basketball.

does anyone agree with me on Bobbo's squad? I really think Eddie needs to be your 2. On offense it may or may not matter much, but Ainge sorta forces Eddie to play the 3 on defense, which takes away some of his defensive muster (he made All-Defense teams as a guard).

And I think Ainge is a much more desirable 6th man as he can run the point.

Just my $0.02

I agree in a way that Eddie is def a better defender at the 2 than at the 3, but hes still gonna be a very good, if not great defender at the 3 as well.

I agree, that's why I said that together they were bad. If you have a PG that is a good passer, it's not as important, because if you cheat on them the PG will hit them up with backdoor screens and easy finishes all day.

When he told me he was taking Ainge, I told him this. I agree to an extent, but at the same time, it's not like his defense will be that much worse, it just won't be at maximum potential. Ainge off the bench would be sick though. Also, this pick is especially nice for Bobbo, because as injury prone as Terrell Brandon is, he can use Ainge at the point if/when TB gets injured.

yeah not saying I don't like the Ainge pick. Like it a lot. Just saying what my strategy would be going forward.

I like this line. Ainge is good insurance and a reliable option off the bench imo.

re: floor spacing

I think tbach is underestimating the difference a couple feet makes. It's a lot easier to help off a guy who's only good out to 18 than a guy good out to 24.

like the ainge pick - also agree that ainge/tb/eddie as the starting 1/2/3 may not be optimal. pretty high bball iq team bobbo has there though.

kurt thomas is solid.

LOVE byron scott - thought he shoulda gone earlier.

Round 5, Pick 193: Doc Rivers

Doc Rivers was pretty injury prone. But when he was on the floor, he could really play. From the age of 23-27, he averaged 8.4, 10, 9.3, and 6.9 APG. And the best part was, is that the Hawks team he played for is similar to mine, in that they have a lot of guys who like to run (see: Dominique Wilkins and Kevin Willis). He wasn't a proficient scorer, never averaging more than 15 a game, but he put up 10+ ppg for 8 seasons (from 23-30) and his career TS% is 53.4%.

I like the pick because his peak is about the same length of time as my other guys (Hill, Kemp, Sabonis), and he still had some effective years after that.

My team isn't developed enough yet to reveal my full gameplan, but you can already see that for the first couple years, I will have a studly team, capable of running or playing slow.

We'll also be playing great defense. All 5 of my starters are above average defenders, and all of them create a lot of turnovers (Posey's actually the least in the steals+blocks, but most are around 2+ a game), in addition to their great individual defense.

Team so far:
PG: Doc Rivers
SG: James Posey
SF: Grant Hill
PF: Shawn Kemp
C: Arvydas Sabonis
Bench: Kevin Durant

KC,

Yeah I understand the difference a couple feet makes. I also understand that if you take your eyes of DWade for a couple seconds, he's going to cut hard to the basket, and if you have a good passer (IE not Monta Ellis) he's going to get it to Wade who will likely get fouled (and once in awhile score too).

Monta could be a great 6th man. He's extremely talented and young and efficient although the rest of his game is pretty weak. As others have stated, the first 5 you pick don't have to be your starting lineup. Your top 5 though should be your most talented. Your 6th round pick can be a guy that fills your holes and makes your team make more sense but there's no reason to pass on a more talented guy if he doesn't exactly fit the makeup of your team.

Oh ya I didn't get to see game 2 on tv until just now (was at the game and just watched the dvr), and at least JVG (who is a very smart basketball mind) understands how great Kevin McHale was at least.

When he kept insisting on McHale's 1v1 and 1v2 skills, all I could think about was how happy you must have been.

I heard a commentator say McHale could go 1v5 with MJ, Magic, Hakeem, Shaq and Garnett and McHale would be favored by +10.5. ^^.

See I hate when people exagerate all the things I say, it makes me look like i'm claiming stuff that I am not.

Like if you just looked at what people said about me, you would think I said McHale was the best player in this draft, when infact I said he wasn't even top 10.
