i don't do anything different in rounds 1-3. in round 4, i probably take brent barry and save dale davis for round 5. If Ricky is still available I take him and hope Dale is still available in round 6, which he probably would be because you're all newbs. I've got a couple backup options in that department, though.

GKA was taking dale davis had he been there at the end of rd 4. I deleted my post because it would just bring up the stupid injury argument again.

Johnny Moore, what's his deal with respect to injuries? It better be some Rick James supafreak injury because the guy was DONE at 27. Nice numbers until then tho.

"After days of unexplainable headaches that refused to go away, Moore, averaging 13 points and 9 assists a game, was forced out of San Antonio's starting lineup last Dec. 26. He never returned. Several weeks, and a 22-pound weight loss later, it was determined that he was suffering from a rare form of meningitis known as desert fever, which is fatal if left untreated, according to Dr. Richard Thorner, the Spurs' team doctor."

sounds vicious

also, being completely serious, it seems only semi-freak. this probably has a very, very, very small chance of happening still, but i thought it was interesting nonetheless.

wikipedia says, "The disease is usually mild, with flu-like symptoms and rashes, and the Mayo Clinic estimates that half the population in some affected areas have suffered from the disease. On occasion, those particularly susceptible, including pregnant women, people with weakened immune systems, and those of Asian, Hispanic and African descent, may develop a serious or even fatal illness from valley fever."

what i get from this is that its pretty easy to catch but it only devastates a small % of the people (who seem to be genetically predetermined). obviously this was exacerbated by him living in San Antonio, but "it is endemic in certain parts of Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Utah and northwestern Mexico" so watch out for those road games.

But genetic susceptibility throws a monkey wrench into this whole thing. We need a medical ruling, any doctors in this thing?

Yea, just read it, sorry for the premature post. Live in Phoenix, so I'm familiar with valley fever, but I never knew it could be that bad. Crazy. I've heard that it can kill dogs if left untreated, but I just thought it was a flu thing that would go away after like a week.

Given all that, pick seems great and insane value - I mean, odds of that repeating are like 0. Any other injuries?

i would assume that his increased risk of yellow fever is similar to petrovic's increased risk of fatal car crash.

injury wise, nothing serious. missed time in his age 24 season with a bruised left calf, missed 23? games in his age 25 season with a broken right index finger.

not sure he's insane value, but still pretty good value imo.
positives: great passer, defensive metrics seem decent (a lot of steals mostly).
negatives: small, below average shooter (.460/.712/.261), never played a ton of minutes (seems like his ceiling was/is about 30 mpg)

Moore isn't insane value in terms of pure value for the position he was drafted in, but he is a really good fit for my team imo.

I've heard that members of Moore's race are genetically predisposed to this.

Moore still seems like crazy value to me, I mean 9+ apg from 23-valley fever (27), only a handful of guys put up those numbers at that age range and they have all been picked.

I don't know a ton about his game though, so if I am missing something aside from the mpg, (30 per game isn't that bad) PLs let me know.

This was done either very good or very poorly as no team stands out. FWIW, I like horizon's team.

ceb was a good pick but there are 3 players clearly much better than him in my eyes still available. if they are ever picked, it'll be interesting if people just forgot about them or purposely picked over them.
