Rondo is one of those dudes that the stats everyone is creaming over underrates.. and even still he does all right. He's the best (at least top 3) defensive PGs in the league right now. High BBall IQ, can get by anybody.. streaky jumper and def has some confidence issues. But he's soooo awesome.

blah. i wanted redd or jj and they went right before my pick. theres still plenty of running talent left if i want to go that way with my next picks. no reason to pass on a decent center at this point. i still have versatility.

He's not a great passer, yet, I guess will have to see. JJ is an above average passer for a wing and I think Jrich is as well. Won't say the same about Buck and Mourning but they don't have to be. Reason Rondo works so well in Boston is two things, KG backing him up on top of having Pierce who are all either elite or above average defenders so he can take chances on top of being good and it's also the reason his stats aren't as high for assists. Will see what happens though. I don't think it's Marbury bad or anything just thought it was early.

I was looking over the spreadsheet thinking about what I would have done in the first two rounds... I prob take Mullin instead of Boozer, which would have made this team crazy fun (and incredibly white).

it's only early if he'd still be around in 27 picks...do u really think that he would last another 27 picks at this stage? if he would, then it's a reach; if not, then i had to take him now barring a trade

also, buck/mourning are better defenders than kg/perkins, so rondo can be even more effective defensively on this team than on the Celtics

i had him going in the late 6th early 7th. I could see him going in the 6th to a team with a bad PG defender as it's starter such as Nash or something.

Thanks. Reading both threads and forgot.

Other than injuries I don't think he's that much bettter or worse than a lot of the 4s who defend/rebound that were taken the last couple of rounds, the big problem is he couldn't stay on the court in the early and late parts of his career. In Miami though he seemingly only missed 16 games in 4 seasons while missing 100+ the 4 seasons previous to that.

I really think its a good trade for both sides. He gets the low post scoring that his team lacks and you get the 2 guard that you need, along with 3pt shooting. Carlos isn't that good of a rebounder, and Barry is good for his position, so you're not losing much there.

I think Boozer was taken a touch high (probablyns 3rd round talent, not a 2nd) so you can offset that with the pick swap.

Love the Sampson and Pressey picks - I have been waiting to see who picks these guys for the last couple of rounds.

Sampson did get hit with the injury bug, but I don't know that he is more injury prone than a guy like Penny. He only missed 3 games toatal his first 3 years in the league. His back problems should be classified as freak (he was bodyslammed in the finals against the Celtics), and he came back from his knee surgury much too soon, and I believe the injury occurred before they were using the scope for knee injuries - he would stand a much better chance of coming back from it with modern medical tech. Coming out of college, he was the most hyped up player I can remember, and was generally expected to be the next Kareem.

Pressey is a steal. His 24 and 25 year old stats get hurt because he entered the league as a rookie at 24 onto a stacked Milwaakee team, and didn't get significant minutes until he was 26. His Per 36 those first 2 years were still around 13 points 5 assists and 6 rebounds. When he became a starter and was used as a "point forward" his stats were more like 16/7.5/5 for the next 6 years, and he was a 3 time all D guy. Great pick.

He also weighed 228 and was 7-4 and played 35+ MPG 2 of his first 3 years. It's really hard to stay healthy at that height especially at that weight.

Most of that was in the 1996-97 season when he only played in 24 games. He played 61/82 in 1997-98, 48 out of 50 in 1998-99 (the lockout season), and 63/82 in 99-00. He only missed 16 games the following four seasons in Miami with 2 82 game seasons.

He still missed 58 in 1996-1997, 21 in 1997-1998 and 2 (whoops) forgot it was strike shorted. I guess it's not as bad as I thought.

Brian Grant was probably my favorite glue guy of that era. He seems a step down from the other bigs that have been drafted recently, but I haven't checked out who's available since my last pick, and everyone else I was looking at is already gone. It might be the right spot for him.

A good passer, not a great shooter, but that can be said about a ton of the PGs being taken now. Definitely crazy. I like the pick and pretty good value for this late in the draft.
