i disagree. i mean he's good value (especially in a 6th man role), but he can't play defense (or do anything other than score), and he missed a ton of time with injuries. couldn't really shoot 3s either. not to mention he was a holdout after his age-27 "breakout" year, so the character thing might be an issue.

that said, he could score, and score in bunches. i was hoping to get him at the end of this round

I was thinking of taking Pierce for my next pick but decided against it for the reasons KLJ gave, he's basically just a good shooter and nothing else.

damn you JoA, A.C. would have fit well on my team

I've been trying to think of a nickname for him, but the best I can come up with is "The Urgent Virgin", which sounds like a Kevin Grisham novel

anyway, may be interested in trading down from 176 if anyone wants to move up.

I never know how to judge 3pt% for 80s players. It jus wasn't a big part of the game. I mean, with pierce, he averaged 1 every OTHER game until he was 29. Half court heaves are probably a statistically significant portion of that.

If you look at the seasons where he shot more than 1 per game, he was 35.4%, which is OK. His FG% and FT% is very high, so I think the argument can be made that he would be a average to good 3 shooter in today's game.

Also, I haven't made up my mind on coaches. I was for them, and I like the idea of drafting coaches, but then it occurred to me that there probably haven't been 40 good ones.

btw I'm pretty shocked that no one drafted the Suns training staff 1st round and then drafted every great player who's ever been injured. EZ $$$$$$$

You're all ignoring the fact that Ricky Pierce invented the AccUShot22 ball, which my team will have sole rights to.. expect 55/45/93 from Bird.

IMO we shouldn't draft coaches, just player coaches. Terry Porter ftw.

I think the reason Ricky Pierce fell so far was because he was so hurt by the "You get them at 24" rule. He'll be a below average 6th man for 2-3 years, and you won't get the AccuShot for like 15 years. Of course after 2-3 years he'll be awesome and for a long time. And once you get the AccuShot it's, like, all over baby.

The Suns training staff are my sleeper for round 5. You're all going to be so impressed when I get 16 years out of Jermaine O'Neal.

Its going to suck when coaches ruin this whole thing.

Just imagine someone with an awful team arguing that they will beat a better team because of coaching, pretty much takes away the whole point of seeing who drafted the better team doesn't it?

Plus once the first coach is taken there is going to be a huge run on coaches, and whoever picks on the other end of that round is going to get screwed because there are way more teams than even decent coaches.
