I think Clark almost took Monta instead of Mookie.

You've got 2 combo guards who are both quick penetrators. Neither can shoot a 3 though.

Re: Modern Era NBA Build a Franchise Draft Discussion

i left work today hoping Monta fell to me even if he isn't the exact mold of a 2guard I'd want.

NoPair's team is ****ing wack but could be insane if all potential and health requirements are met

Re: Modern Era NBA Build a Franchise Draft Discussion

love monta.

however in your write up you said he was a solid defender. sorry dude, he's nowhere close to that yet. but he is quick and still young enough to learn. also has no range obv but he can work on that too.

Re: Modern Era NBA Build a Franchise Draft Discussion

monta's not the worst pick, you're gonna be a matchup nightmare considering you have two guys that can attack the paint at will. but who will setup the big men? there's also no defense to be seen.

I'm a big Warriors fan, and Ellis does nothing on defense but wave his arms. He's a good jump shooter and slasher on offense though.

Guys just because neither has range from 3 doesn't mean they don't stretch the floor. Wade and Monta both have real good mid range games and they are both so quick that you can't sag off because if you end up trying to run them off a jumper they will just blow by you.

Re: Modern Era NBA Build a Franchise Draft Discussion

Monta Ellis was the 6th of the guys I was looking at since my second round pick!

Durant
Ellis
Martin
Harper
Oakley
Maggette

Those were the 6 I was eyeing, but I thought of AK47 at the last moment and he crept in there too. Guess I gotta make a new list for my next pick.

Stats cannot accurately judge a players importance or overall ability. Stats are for people who play fantasy basketball, not the real game. The real game is judged by watching and observing the player and how he performs in all situations. Yes a lot of situations have stats for them, but a lot are also left out.
The problem is that personal bias renders this almost meaningless. You really do have to use stats as the backbone of your ratings. Watching can help, but stats don't lie.

Re: Modern Era NBA Build a Franchise Draft Discussion

I'm having sick trouble coming up with a team name. I've got the all-american quiet guys in Hill and Durant, the babymaking druggy in Kemp, and the goofy Euro in Sabonis. We need a good team identity that is symbolized in our mascot.

Tim Duncan, Penny Hardaway, AK47, and Derek Harper??
