The plan is to do some type of playoff style voting to determine a winner. Bobbo came up with the idea that we do one at like age 25, one 5 yrs later, and one a decade later. A bunch liked it, but the thread died down.

I think we should figure out how we are going to finish this thing soon. PM if thats still confusing, I'm drunk.

i ****ed up the rhythm.

as for rating teams goes, I couldn't care less. For me it's the journey, deciding what teams I like and making my team the best I can. Having ******ed arguments "BUT MY D WILL STOP YOUR O OMG" seems less than fun.

kc,

i think that each owner should write one post about why they think their team is good...and after that they are no longer allowed to talk about their own team. Honor system about PMing others to make points for you, etc. From there, some sort of playoff system would totally work if you ask me...and it would generate a lot of great discussion. If only posting about your team once seems too little, there are certainly other ways to do it(one at the beginning, one at the end before the vote or whatever, etc)...but agreed that the building phase seems like the most fun.

I mean if others want to do the whole vote based on certain ages and crap like that then fine, I'm not trying to ruin others fun, I'm just not all that interested in it.

A final write up will occur. My final roster is gonna be so nasty and worthy of an opus.

I think the best idea would be this.

At the end of the draft, we can decide on how many years we want to have a tourny (like every year, every 3 years etc. so players are 24, 27 etc.)

So say we decided on 4 seasons.

We should do our first season first. Every owner makes a writeup for their team. Then every owner reads everyones writeup, then ranks the top 40 teams in the best to worst order. Say 1st place is worth 40 pts, 2nd 39 etc.

Then we add up the total points and seed each team (obv we will have to use byes or something eventually since 40 doesn't make a clean tourny).

Then once we seed the teams, they all play each other ie. 1st seed plays 40 seed etc. Then before each matchup, each owner states what they want to do vs the other team etc.

Then everyone votes on who wins each matchup, and the winners advance until we have a champion.

Then we do it again for the next season etc.

Love Harp. Can't stand seeing his huge shiny head, droopy eyes, and hearing his droning voice for the post game analysis for the Mavs but man I loved watching him play.

the whole "let's pick a few years" is ******ed when the whole point was to build a franchise for a long haul.

so do it for every year then, might as well since this draft will take so long anyway it won't be a big deal.

Agree with kidcolin about the picking random age thing seems ******ed when longevity should be the winning formula IMO.

Also, looking forward to the third round writeup.

This wasn't just about the long haul.

We could have an owner vote afterwards where you have to pick two teams other than your own, one for best current team and one for best team built for the long haul(although its very possible that you would vote for the same team in each category).
--Assani in the initial thread. IMO adding a couple interval years would be fun too.

I mean if you're building a franchise, you wanna win some championships. If you have a team built for the long haul, you won't win for a bunch of years, so there will be some winning teams before that that should be acknowledged.

I agree with this, but I think each owner should get to write up why they'd win each individual playoff series too. Maybe have a regular season when each owner gets one writeup, and then top 16 teams go to playoffs.

Yeah I like this idea or Bobbo and mine world cup style. Reg season would prob be more appropriate considering it's the NBA.

If so, I think I win, nobody else has the balls or skills to defend Marbury and make imho pretty damn good arguments supporting his value.

btw, when watching the Celtics/Pistons game....

When players want to miss a FT on purpose, why don't they just wind up baseball style and chuck it at the rim like we used to do as kids when playing 21 and you needed to miss to not go over?

Does the ball have to hit the rim in the NBA(if it hits the backboard only then its a dead ball)? Even still I'd think they could throw it hard and still hit the rim, no?

assani,

has to hit rim. But you often see guys just do a two handed chest pass or line drive their shot to get the rim. Def don't want to just use a normal shot motion. Muscle memory is bound to kick in.

Tim Hutton is my massive sleeper. Lots of good roles and he took a lead role in and directed the Nero Wolfe series that used to be on A & E (it's awesome).

The clear best play in those situations is to immediately throw the ball at the front of the rim the instant you receive the ball from the ref, the defense is never ready for an immediate shot.
