So either he disappears offensively on a good team or puts up numbers on a bad team. Also, another guy with injury issues for Assani.
His on/off +/- was very good on those bad Jazz teams though, they were something like 10 points per/100 possessions better with him on the the floor for three straight years than when he was off the floor, easily leading the team each year. I think it was more a reflection of the rest of the team sucking than him being unable to lead a team, sort of like Garnett in Minnesota, although obviously not nearly as good.

Also, his teams weren't even that bad, they were around .500 for most of the time except for 04-05 where he missed half the season and they tanked. It's not like we're talking about the NBA version of Archie Manning here.

Love the kirilenko pick and I think THIS is a great case where real life production may not match hypothetical production in this league. I always feel annoyed when reading about how players may or may not get injured, etc, because I think it adds waaaay too much speculation to this thing...but in AK's situation I think the speculation that he could maintain his age 24 production if he got to maintain higher usg numbers in a system that moved the offense through him more is totally warranted. I think this is the best pick by a mile among the recent picks.

I'm watching a sports science show right now and they're testing how stimuli effect FT shooting. BY TESTING IT OUT OF 10 ATTEMPTS AHHHHHHHHHHHHH SO MUCH VARIENCE THIS PROVES NOTHING.

agree with xorbie about AK47 on the Nash/gnob team.

I'm really disappointed that AK didnt end up on kc's team. Three white picks and none a reach. Same for Hornacek.

Love the pics....was going to post the 2nd one in this thread if you didn't.

The pick is ok value to me...don't love the shoot first PGs though. I'm going to comment more on this after some other PGs get taken as I want to do a comparison of them all but obviously can't until more of them get drafted.

AK's best asset is his defense, ability to guard 3s and 4s. I don't really think he's much of a scorer, although he's ok. He can pass fairly well though. He seems to be a little brittle as well. Combine that with a very brittle 2nd rounder in Penny and there could be some problems getting a team on the court.

Cassell is fine here I think. Not a great shooter, but can score inside and pass well.

Yeah between Sam and Larry you're going to tilt a lot of teams.

Why isn't he in the game? Every other team has its star log more minutes during this time than their other players--maybe some exceptions, I am not looking it up but there maybe explanations too.
It's because he missed games this year. In MPG, KMart got 36.3, right behind Artest.

btw, due to you guys pointing it out to me can a mod edit this in right under my #4 point in my writeup on AK47:

5. AK47 was a much better defensive player when allowed to play PF. His timing and size are his strengths on D. Playing the SF or SG, his quickness is average. However when guarding PFs he has exceptional quickness which can cause fits. I intend to use AK47 mostly at the PF, which I believe will help him maintain that age 24 level production.

It's sorta weird.. Theus is intimidated by Martin. There was an interview mid-season and he was asked if he thought Martin was better than he was (debatable, but probably), and he got kinda defensive. He's a **** coach.
What sort of interviewer would put a coach on the spot like that? Man, there is no right answer.
I actually thought Theus did a better-than-expected job

After the way he's been killing your Celts this postseason, it's a brave pick at least, not sure if I would have been able to dive headfirst into the pick if he was doing that to my team.

Three sets of a guy shooting FT's. First time it's just him. Second time it's him, a small crowd behind the basket with those thunderstick things, a strobe light and two clowns (including a pretty hot one standing on tilts who's pretending like she's gonna lick his ear). Then the third one was him shooting the FT's with a rock band playing at 120 decibels. He went like 9/10, 7/10 and 6/10 I think.

Cassell was high on my board. Its a good fit from the perspective that his peak coincides with bird's + divac's.

I think the best thing about kc's team is that you have 3 guys that won't shy away from the ball in the clutch.

possibly. lets go through your post though:

Quote:
I just like his team so much b/c they can do the important things:

1) Low Post Scoring - Not many teams will be able to guard both Ewing and Nance in the post, and both guys can hit a midrange J.
Actually, Nance has very little post game. Ewing is very reliable inside and good, but is somewhat of a poor passer out of the double team. If you're expecting him to create for Nance, this is wrong. And my point is many teams will be able to double up on Ewing.

Quote:

2) Defense - All 3 of his players are good to great defensively. Scoring on the inside is going to be difficult and getting penetration will be too, as Blaylock is a excellent defender
I never said he had a bad defense. I stressed his OFFENSE. In fact, Clark has a GREAT defensive core.

Quote:

3) Rebounding. Again, all 3 players are good to great rebounders for their position. His team will get a lot of 2nd chance points.
Again, I never questioned rebounding, but he'll sure need a lot of that with the bricks his guys will be throwing up.

Bobbo, if you're still catching up on old posts then forgive me, but when you get a chance can you weigh on in the AK47 being better defensively at the PF spot issue. As it stands now, I'm gonna play him at the PF and Duncan at C.
