What Manu said is pretty accurate from what I recall.

Re: Modern Era NBA Build a Franchise Draft Discussion

Yea Mano's description was much better from what I remember. You never really saw him inside 8 feet, nor did you see him playing above the rim. He was definately a good shooter, would handle the ball a bit, solid passer, aside from that he definately didn't fit the 4 spot well. From what I remember, he was always a 3 because of his 3 point abilities.

That's kind what I remember from his Seattle days too. But I didn't see him play for Indiana, when he got a ton of boards and barely shot any 3s, so that's why I was wondering. In Seattle, it could have been a team need rather than skills issue - they already had Kemp at the 4.

Detlef was awesome getting to the rim, one of the craftier finishers and passers.

Here's a vid Serg. Detlef highlights start around 2:15. If I could compare Detlef to anyone, I'd say he was a poor man's Larry Bird...

He played the 4 at Indiana, and IIRC it was his first selection to the all-star game... could be wrong though. But he was seriously a monster in the open court and could finish with the best of them. I have no clue why the others are saying he wasn't a slasher/finisher.

Ya you claim McHale's defense (a top 3 defensive all first team 3 times, top all defensive 2nd team 3 times) is close to Barkley's who was voted the worst defender of all time in one poll, yet you aren't off....sure

very disapointed when I woke up right now, The reason I wanted to trade up was to get mcguirre. Sick pick and the steal of the draft thus far.

Re: Modern Era NBA Build a Franchise Draft Discussion

yea, I don't get how seadood is off on Detlef. From what I remember, if the other team put a 3 on him, he could post up, but if they went big against him, he could rain from 3.

We're talking about Detlef, yet without fail epippen manages to bring his first round pick into the discussion. Is it one big level on all of us? I doubt it.

Re: Modern Era NBA Build a Franchise Draft Discussion

I mean, b-ref lists him as a forward-center and at his peak he pulled in 10 Rebs per36. So I think its safe to say he could bang on the inside.

Once again for the guys in the cheap seats.. I never claimed that they were equal or close, my argument was that Charles was underrated and McHale was overrated, and I used the stats to back them up. Your feelings that I was implying something are strictly on you, and do not represent reality.

Would u say that Shaq is one of the best passing bigmen in this draft?

He may have bulked up later in his career - I mostly saw him play against the Jazz when he was with Dallas and Seattle, and he wasn't posting Malone much, so I may be underestimating his interior game. He was definitely a killer from long range.
