the mad russian sergsz just totally ****ed my white team. Detlef was absolutely necessary for me to pull this off.

edit: not sure what I think yet of the pick in general.

I was thinking about an allwhite team and could only think of one shooting guard that is draftable. And he's not really a pure 2.

Kc,

PM me who you were sizing up?

Aguirre should've gone 30 picks ago.

G/F Mark Aguirre

Mark Aguirre adds a final scoring punch to my team. A volume scorer who made most of his points breaking down defenders and getting to the basket, Aguirre rounds out my offensively versatile team. With David Robinson I can score in the post, with Terry Porter I can shoot it from anywhere on the court, and with Aguirre I can break down defenses and get to the basket.

Aguirre gives me more than just scoring, however. Aguirre is both an able passer and rebounder for his position, similar to both Porter and Robinson. This will be essential, as his driving capabilities will help set up Porter when defenses collapse on him. Aguirre can also play both wing positions, giving me the ability to one again draft the best player available and mix and match lineups to suit the opposition.

Besides, I had to get a Maverick in here somewhere.

Relevant stats (Ages 24-30)
23 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 3.5 APG
.552 TS%
3-Time All Star
2 Time Champion

pretty much. I think some passes were very "needs" oriented (me for example, plenty others), but people who went with scoring wings over him I was sorta wtf about. Penny especially.

JoA currently has the best 3-man team. Aguirre > Kiki due to not being sooo one dimensional, even if he is mainly a scorer. He also fits JoA's team better. His team is much better defensively and has 3 clear roles so far.
Obviously my team is the best, but I did trade up. I don't pick again for 80 picks (at this rate, sometime in the next 1.5-2 weeks!) and I still need a good wing defender and a complement for Robinson down low. I'm gonna hope to pick up someone who can shoot 3s in either role.

I had a feeling you were going for Agguire, nice pick.

Schrempf I thought would slip further but he's good too.

Agguire was definitely on my radar, but Mullin is way whiter.

I'm not in love with them, but I like the potential of BC's team. They should be able to run on anybody, but Bosh gives them a very good half court option should the game fall into that pace.

I was wondering if one of the older guys could fill me in on some details about Detlef's game that can't be gleamed from basketball reference and distant memories. Did he have much of a post game? What was his D like? Could he match up against burly 4s? What about quicker 3s?

Thanks

Detlef was a very good post up guy, and could play close or far away from the basket. Actually he excelled playing the 4 iirc, and was a pretty good defender overall. Sorry can't comment on his defense in relation to size, but I don't recall it being too much of an issue.

I'd say his natural position was the 3 because he was a great driver of the ball, but he can also play the bigs for stints.

He was the classic "too quick for 4's, too strong for 3's" guy.

From what I remember he was more of a spot up shooter and a slasher, he had the height for a post game, but would get pushed around a bit. He was clutch from long range, and hit a lot of big shots. He was average defender, and was too skinny to bang with the real big guys.
