Vlade is a very good pick. I thought he would slide further, but he deserved to go here, if not even earlier.

Oh well at least I told two people I was planning to take Laimbeer in the third round. Figured Marbury would go first though, based on the general 2000s bias shown in the second round.

Jordan doesn't have Pippen, Duncan doesn't have Robinson, Manu, or Parker, etc etc. It's incredibly hard to get a pairing like that.

I don't like the pick of Vlade this early. With that said, I agree with you completely that hes a nice compliment to Bird....then again, Bird really goes well with anyone.

Laimbeer would've been a phenomenal pick in round 3. Unfortunately 3 of us in a row were all going to select him(and I was last of the 3) I think.

Bobbo is out of the box tonight. I cut him from 48 hours to 24 hours.

Love Rice
Dislike Penny
Vlade is fair value

Let's not forget Vlade's most important move of his career...being traded for Kobe Bryant in the 96 draft. Which in retrospect is a seriously sick draft.

This reason is why I like my pick. When Hardaway is healthy, Duncan has a 2nd guy that belongs in that class of players. My team could be a potential dynasty if Penny stays healthy and if I draft well the rest of the way. Big ifs and unknowns of course though...

man, penny had the sickest sneakers.

but glossing over his stats his peak was just way too short and actually wasn't as good as i remembered.

On Divac generally: pretty good pick IF you have to take a big right now (esp. considering that about half this round's picks have been sooooo bad) - but I like at least 1 other big man still on the board much better.

1. Like the TS% and per, except those stats are skewed higher generally for Cs and PFs. Also never took a huge # of shots so that stat is even more skewed. (you would think he would have taken much more with peeler, van exel, and other journeymen on that lakers team).

2.The WSAA is skewed by his mildly-above-average-for-forever type of career (his WSAA only peaked once).

3. By 24 his D had declined significantly and was only apparently recovered later in his career because he fouled like crazy against much better post players who would abuse him with their bodies. Still an ok defender who knows how to draw an O-foul, so to speak.

4. Pretty good rebounder for a lanky dude

5. Likes to chuck a couple threes a game even though he was horrible from that distance.

6. Good off-ball movement, cutting ability.

7. Great durability for a big man.

Can someone either tell me or point me towards an explanation of the format for this? I dont understand what you guys are doing, but it is still interesting. I am just wondering why some of the picks appear to be so god awful.

Vlade is best C available imo. I had a few in mind but narrowed it down to him fairly quickly. > Rice pick imo.

Sorry guys just a tad longer, since every person on the list I have made is gone, except one who I really don't want.

KC, I was actually going to pick Vlade Divac for all the same reasons you did. But then I went temporarily ******ed and chose Boozer.

Penny pick is ridiculously high-variance, but given his early career production, you can't really call it awful. The guy simply did everything well (except for staying healthy).

Last three picks are all decent pairings but I feel like each went a little high, value wise.

Penny is def an injury problem, even though he might be able to come back better with "today's medical advances" he is still a really lanky dude who is in the air a lot and appears to be prone to injury. I wouldn't want to put him on a team that didn't have another very good option to run at the point (i.e. he would be a sick pick with Magic or Lebron or with a good combo guard).

Rice has a good peak for sure but with Hakeem there are a lot of things you can do, and there will be good shooters available later (and more durable ones at that), what I think you want now is value at PG or a wing player who can defend/score. There are also imo better scorers available now if you are not concerned with D.

Vlade is a good pairing with Bird, but then who isn't? I think a little early value wise for Vlade, but by the least of these picks. He has more offense than a lot of the other durable bigs who can play D/rebound somewhat, so I like that, but he brings nothing real special to the table. Pairing Bird here with another open court player I think could have been cool.

man really thinking you guys underrate Vlade. Take a look at his stats. He's like the Robert Parish that the league's format won't allow me to draft.

So is this solely for the discussion or will this be run in some simulation? Sorry if these questions are obvious, but I didnt see it and this thread is huge. There are a lot of players that I have no idea how they arent picked yet, and also a lot that have been which I dont understand.

You can mention the players who were picked and why u don't like it (without mentioning players who aren't picked yet).

You can't mention anyone who wasn't picked yet.
