TMac meanwhile is pretty bad at only 52% TS% for his career and under 49% this year(yuck!!!). And its not like he hasn't been surrounded by decent talent around him in Vince/Hill/Yao.

To give a comparison, Iverson is widely critisized as an inefficient scorer, but his TS% for his career is only .3 percentage points lower, and hes had very little surrounding talent and is even more of a bulk scorer than TMac.
+1

I might be one of the guys that thinks Pierce is underrated by some of the BOS homers, for the aforementioned reasons.

I really hate comments like this. I love debate and discussion, but give some reasoning why you don't like Parker rather than just a sarcastic or insulting comment. Obviously it may be tough when you can't mention others you liked more than him, but you can still give reasoning why you think hes being overrated.

I think everyone who watches Parker realizes this. However thats somewhat offset by the fact that his range is limited. His FG% is great for a PG; His eFG% and TS% is merely ok.

I think that when you have a very well coached and discipline team and wings who can shoot the 3 then you can suceed with Parker. However with a less disciplined team then spacing the floor is going to be a big issue since Parker has to spot up a few steps closer than most PGs.

2004 Lakers auto wins because they have Malone and Payton.

All, I know it's not now but I have the 88th pick and am willing to entertain offers.

Edit- I'm not giving it away, but there's a lot of people wanting to move up so I figure I might as well get into it while the demand is so high

I'd much rather have Joe Dumars than Tim Hardaway. More efficient and a much much better defender. Those things are vital for winning in this league and in real life.

I think he means, what if you had every player on any particular team at age 24.

He has also been fairly durable thus far, which is more than can be said for a lot of the other PG taken.
Pointing out FG% and ignoring eFG% or TS% while discussing Parker is intellectually dishonest imo. You know that its not the best metric, yet you use it anyway to support your argument.

Parker: 24.3 points, 52.9% eFG%, 73.6% FT, 3.7 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 3.3 turnovers, 1.0 steals, 0.0 blocks

Deron: 21.6 points, 56.5% eFG%, 77.3% FT, 3.6 rebounds, 10.0 assists, 3.1 turnovers, 0.6 steals, 0.3 blocks

I'm going with Deron, although it is close. Better efficiency and signficantly more assists.

btw, just looking over playoff stats now....

God its impressive how few turnovers Chris Paul commits. 11 assists and only 1.6 turnovers in the playoffs. Just sick.

In other news, I didn't realize what a great playoffs Kobe is having so far: 33.3 points, 53% eFG%, 80.6% FT%, 6.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.1 steals, 0.7 blocks.

First, awesome thread. This is a really cool idea.

There's a challenger to the 2004 Lakers where every player from the team is 24. This would only work if the 1979 rule was lifted, especially since Parish and Johnson wouldn't even be able to play, but the '86 Celtics would be pretty impressive with a 24 year old Bill Walton. Wedman was sharp back at that age too.

A matchup between them and 2003 Spurs would be nuts. Remember that the Spurs won the title in 2003 pretty much solely because Timmy was MVP. Robinson was crippled and old. Parker was young and ****ty. Ginobili had just joined the league and wasn't anywhere near the player he is now. They got significant minutes from 2 guys who are no longer on the team, and have yet to be drafted. And they still won the title, including beating the defending 3peat Lakers and making Kobe cry.

Spurs have the better 5th man. Lakers have Shaq. But Spurs have Timmy AND Robinson waiting for him. Man-for-man, the 04 Lakers are a little better than the 03 Spurs, but as far as how they all fit together as a team, the 03 Spurs have an edge.
