Hopefully my pick doesn't happen in the next 4 hours but if someone wants I can PM a list of players I want and maybe they pick them for me or I can give you my cell to text me when it's my turn. I won't be able to leave easily from making a batch at work.

Both picks are very solid in my opinion; great value at this point.
I agree that Price is a very good machup with Amare, though the lack of defense is a concern.
I'm not convinced by the buck and Zo tandem. PF/C combo are overrated in my opinion. Big man/guards pairing are still the nuts.
One strategic advantage of taking two big mans in the first two rounds is that you weaken considerably the teams picking behind you and that have picked points or swingman in the first round while you give upvery little

Gonna reserve judgment on Moncrief to see what you get with your next picks.

I know dick about Sid Moncrief, but was kinda impressed he kept showing up in some of my PER/TS%/etc searches for guards on b-ref. Could he play the point at all?

I guess I like it. Pretty sick peak. One of the coolest names, especially when you throw int he nickname. Can never go wrong with cool names.

Great pick with moncrief. Funny that your second round pick is probably better than your first.
Injuries are going to be a problem.

Also, lol, there are 12 picks before me and I currently have 11 targets. I'm gonna be pissed if I have to pick someone else.

Just wanted to drop in and say how awesome this thread is for people that aren't drafting.

And that I support a time limit.

And that I'm sorry I hinted at KJ before he got picked It just seemed so obvious though, there weren't a ton of 20/10 pgs left on the board. But it won't happen again haha.

OMGOMGOMGOMG. LOVE LOVE LOVE Moncrief. I really thought he was going to fall to the third round and be a huge sleeper. Super giant respect KLJ. Though, its a shame VC was your first pick. I was hoping to see Moncrief paired w/ someone like Payton or Stockton, for the super sick D frontcourt. Or even a great center.

Should include the Jordan quote about Moncrief in the writeup to help sell the pick to those that don't know.

Thought about taking Moncrief over KJ but his drop-off after 28 scared me off.

When you play against Moncrief, you're in for a night of all-around basketball. He'll hound you everywhere you go, both ends of the court. You just expect it.
Of course, Moncrief actually came into the league with degenerate knee problems, so you know exactly what you're getting.

Sick value from Moncrief's peak - I almost picked him over Deke in the first round, but was really scared off by his degenerative knee condition. A doctor predicted he would only play two years in the NBA before his career started, so it looks like his actual performance may have been the best case scenario, health-wise.

The weirdest thing about his league is the fact that you have to take the future into account. With Moncrief, you get 5 stellar years, and not too much after that. Should you be asking for more than that?

Also, since everyone is 24 in this league, at some point everyone in he league will be 30. Does this matter when looking at someone real life numbers?

it's Assani's league and he's doing a great job, but I always thought the 24 thing was a little too specific and sorta gay balls. For most superstars they're still extremely valuable at ages 18-23 and it sucks to miss out on that.

It kinda should. But what about players who aren't even 30 yet, or worse have only been in the league for a year? Its' going to be pretty hard to project guys from this past years rookie draft. Some guys are slow starters (see Nash), some guys don't get a ton of minutes early on but work there way into dominance, others start out great and have injuries issues but for some it's impossible to tell if certain players will have them (see Hill, who had virtually no issues until his ankle issue). I think for all players there is a probability for issues, with some players have much higher probabilty for growth or injury than others.

He might be a decent 3pt shooter when he shoots more than 1 every other game.

yeah, and shaq MAY be a decent 3 pt shooter if he shot 4 a game, too.

but KJ is a below avg 3pt shooter in this
