No, I agree, there are good PGs left. What I meant when I said interesting is thar there are like 5 - 10 PGs that I can think of who could come off the board in any order now because the all have different strengths/weaknesses - I put price in that group. Should be fun!

Colin- Your all white team obviously needs Brian Scalibrene. He's ginger too, so that's like doubly white.

also, i get the feeling victor is going to have the most efficient offensive team..

pairing price and amare just clicks so well, they just feed into each other, bc price and nash are so similar. and wow, price could SHOOT THAT BALL@ plus they could spend time in the training room together.

Just thought I'd point out that KJ only shot more than 100 3's in a season once.

1996-97: 89/202
Career: 160/524

He might be a decent 3pt shooter when he shoots more than 1 every other game.

Yeah, if he's able to add a first round pick and a star guard he'll be all set to lose to Duncan's team

i was set to take kj over price bc he was a better penetrator finisher and had more assists and a longer career. but prices shooting was very sexy. i would say kj is a better allaround player but im not sure he would fit with amare better. i def put a decent amount of thought into it. anyone have thoughts?

part of being a great penetrator is the ability to get inside and then just lay it off to the big men for easy finishes. i dont think there's anyone in the NBA right now who is a more capable finisher than amare, so i think that would've worked. at the same time with price you get a guy who can get amare the ball easily and can shoot, so i think you're probably better off as of right now. what remains to be seen is how easily you can build around them, because a player of shawn marion's ability won't be available any time soon.

I wanted KJ, or Price really bad...also had my eye on Manu, Deron, and Brad. Really no interest in Buck, Bynum, Melo, Ben this early. Melo maybe late 2nd early 3rd, but the rest probally 3rd rounders+ for me.

I had this whole post types out about draft sleepers before I realized that half the guys I was talking about havent been picked yet. Oops.

KC - plenty of white PGs left. If we can't pass and shoot FTs, what are we good for?

Buck was a much better pick than Bynum, Melo, and Ben.. though I'm sorta OK with the Ben pick.

yeah but Price was really the creme de la creme. I might have to hold off on PG drafting and hope for a few round 8 or 9 hopefuls.

wow. i thought wallace was a very good pick especially matched up with iverson. with all the chucking that iverson will do it's important to have a really good offensive rebounder and wallace is as good as it gets. it also allows you more flexibility on defense because he's so good at protecting the paint

With Howard Buck/Ben have much less interest for me personally although I think Ben/Buck could work well for a team that has a great scorer or scorers. I honestly don't get Zo-Buck, both are great defensively. Zo is more of an off the ball blocker, not sure what Buck was but you'll be great defensively and Zo is a pretty good scorer but not a great one. Also both of their peaks are rather short, 1 due to injury the other not really sure about. Defensively he might have the best 1-2 punch in the league, but I'm interested how the rest of the team comes out.

With a draft this deep I think it's not great to get black holes at certain positions. Teams are going to be a lot more stacked so to have a player who can't do much will make things unbalanced. Then again there are only so many shots to go around for any team so Ben could definitely fit certain schemes. 1 worry is both Ben and Iverson are pretty inefficient offensively, AI is a 52% career TS% and a career 41% fg% guy. Ben is a 47% TS% (horrible for a big man) and a career 47% fg% guy which is horrible consider he dunks alot and doesn't really shoot.

I'll be around all day for when I finally get on deck. I would start my writeup but I know I'd get some sort of death curse for doing so.

I only remember Buck for his later years on the Knicks but he was definetly still solid defensively. Him and Zo is a pretty good front line. As has been said Price and Amare should click pretty well offensively. 2 really good picks I thought.

yeah I get the comparison to the Philly team with AI and Deke.. but Deke is a LOT better than Wallace imo.

Deke-TS% 57% for career, fg% 52%. PER 17.2, blocks 2.8, Rebs 10.4 although at his peak he wa sa 11 to 13 a game guy. and a 3-4 blocks per game guy, the last 6 years have really dragged him playign much less minutes and much less games.

Wallace-47% fg and TS%. PER 16.0 and it's dropped significantly the last 2 seasons. he was a 17.5 per guy in detroit. bpg 2.2 although at his peak he was a 3.5. rebounds 10.5 but at peak 13-15 guy.

DEKE >> Wallace to me. Wallace is a black hole, Deke just doesn't shoot much. Deke 68% career ft shooter vs 41% for Wallace.

deke was also a very solid first round pick. i'm just saying that as far as building a team around iverson, it's a very good starting block.

also, concering having 2 inefficient shooters, yeah it's true they're inefficient. but iverson shoots so inefficiently because for a lot of years he was the only guy on his team that could score (aaron mckie was his 2nd best option on the philly team that went to the finals). in this league with more depth iverson should be able to shoot a higher % like he does in denver by lowering his FGA and also opposing defenses won't be able to surround him as much (though that is one huge flaw with wallace in that he won't be able to penetrate and just lay it off to wallace as easily as a guy like buck williams i suppose, but give a little offense, gain a little defense and rebounding)

Round #2/Pick #60 (via Epeen): Sid "The Squid" Moncrief

Bio ("borrowing" tidbits from here):
Moncrief was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks with the 5th overall selection in 1979. Moncrief was known for his ability to play both offense and exceptional defense. He could shoot from the outside, post up, dunk over 7-foot centers, make the key pass, crash the boards, and slash through the paint for a layup. And he was always among the first players back on defense after a basket or turnover. He was one of the game's hardest-working and best-liked players. His consistency dependability, and versatility made him a fan favorite in Milwaukee and an admired figure among the league's top stars.

Unfortunately, after 7 years in the league, his game became limited due to knee problems. Previous to his 8th season, he had never missed significant time in college or the NBA, and had played 73 games or more every season. Due to this, his "peak" was relatively short (comparable to Daugherty). Regardless, starting with his age-24 season, in the 5 eligible years he has for this league, he was very, very good.

Awards in these 5 seasons:
5 All-NBA teams (one 1st team)
5 All-Defensive teams (two 1st teams)
2 Defensive Player of the Year
5 All-Star teams
Top 8 in MVP voting every year

Statistics in these 5 seasons:
Averaged 21/6/5/1.5 on .505/.838 shooting.
ORtg never lower than 118
Top 8 in Win Shares every year

Reasoning: Two guards? I'm not as worried about this because I have 2 more picks in the next 40 due to trading down. I firmly believe in taking the BPA early in drafts, and Carter and Moncrief are both very offensively versatile. I'm not pigeonholed (yet) into a fast-paced team, although it's obviously a possibility. I also felt that with the large amount of offensive talent at the 2/3 position, having an elite defender who is still an offensive + is huge.

My team is far:
SG: Sid "The Squid" Moncrief
SF: Vince "Vinsanity" Carter

BJLTNYK, you are on the clock...
