I can't speak about his defense either, because he was playing as I was growing up (and as a kid I couldn't care less about defense). I'm still tilted (because he went to high school maybe 10 miles from where I grew up)

Looking back at what I've read about him (and his stats), he seemed to be very injury prone. It hurts that 3 of his healthiest seasons come before the age of 24. Games played in eligible seasons are: 77, 78, 49, 67, 47, 56, 70, 50.

KJ was a top point guard, unfortunatel two of his best seasons were at age 22 and 23,. By age 28 he was down to 15/7 and at 32 he was almost out of the league. Similar career trajectory to Zeke.

Edit: Don't like the pick that much, you had better options at the 1.

looking through old NY times, it appears that KJ had problems with a strained hamstring in Jan '90, Jun '90, and Apr '91. Groin strain Nov '92. Reinjured both in Dec '92.

stopped looking here.

wouldn't have mattered. I already had trade offers out to battschr, so if he was the guy I was targetting and I could move up then I would've gotten him anyway.

Only possible way it would've mattered is if I tried to get battschr to take him so that you'd want to trade down with me, and I would've never done something that shady.

I remember KJ being hurt a lot, I also remember him being a force. He was always so good in the playoffs, scored a ton, played a ton of minutes and w/ the right team he is perfect--he was so good at getting in the paint, opening up space for Barkley or sucking in the defense for the 3. Dude was tough.

KJ turned 24 during March of the 89-90 season. Not sure how that factors in.

KJ also had five seaons with a PER above 20 when he was 24+.

Growing up, KJ was always one of my favorite players. The thing I remember most about him was his ball handling. He always made it seem so easy, like the ball was on a string.

Needless to say, I love the pick.

D

PS. Oh yeah, and the dunk on Hakeem. That **** was the illest.

Gah I had 4 guys that I wanted at pick 68. KJ, Nance, Ginobili, and another player that I won't mention. I thought I had an outstanding shot at two of those being available but now I'm worried that none of them will be.

What do you mean. Everyone knows KJ was a 1. Anybody who is going to start looking up all the point guards in the past 28 years to see who might have been better than KJ, probably has already done some research and this statement would not influence them.

KJ was a god. Injuries late but still brought his A game to the playoffs. Kind of like the PG Shaq later in his career who slept/nursed injuries in the regular season but brought it hardcore when it mattered. A dominant player who is probably undervalued at his current pick spot. I prefer him to Billups for most (but not all) teams.

Saying that a player "should go soon", "would be a good fit with someone's team", or "should've gone at that pick" is not allowed. And you cannot hint at that player by saying something like "I would've taken a SF there" or "I would've taken a different guy at the same position there." We've gone over this already...

If this thread spent less time arguing about the age rule and the vagueness of certain posts and if or didn't they allude to a player then this thread would be half the size.

Heh, I've had my moments of life-tilt just watching this thread, but it's quite amusing for me to watch everybody else go on life-tilt as their guys get picked ahead of them. That's why I would just draft a fun team if I was drafting. Taking it seriously would drive me insane.

Clark who was going to take Nance before you? You're the only person in this thread who even remembers him

Victor has stated multiple times that he would have taken him 100% if he fell. I have posted that I would have taken had Victor gotten kidnapped or something.

Did you read the like 10 guys who all said they wanted him (some of which were ahead of me) after I picked? You like, do read the thread right?

Yeah I do read the whole thread but I think I missed that page because there were like four picks made between when I logged off and back on again. My bad.
