Round 2, Pick #57 PG Kevin Johnson

Pairing KJ with ‘Nique gives me two guys that are a nightmare to guard one-on-one. KJ put up some monster years, three times averaging 20 ppg and 10 apg. Missed some games here and there to injuries in his 20s, but was always back in the playoffs at full force during those years. Dropped 38 pts and 12 assists in back-to-back games against the Rockets in ’94. Only got to play with Chuck for four seasons, losing twice to Houston and once to Chicago. Great stamina. Decent on defense as well. I considered some other guys, but felt that I needed to maximize ‘Nique’s strengths instead of trying to balance out ‘Nique with a more defense-minded pick.

Need a coach who can use my team’s athleticism to push the pace and create mismatches.

Offensively I love what KJ brings. Can anyone tell me about his D though? The hardest thing for me to evaluate in this draft is the defense of players whose primes were when I was too young to remember.
