RE: Newman

Yea, I feel like I need a SF that can get to the rim and get to the FT line and be efficient about it. Jim Jackson is worthless IMO and Kukoc is nice, but doesn't fill that need.

Newmn can play the 2 as well, which is good. His rebounding sucks, but with Barkley/Gat/Willis, I don't think that is too much of a problem.

At any rate, Im taking over a team that has major problems and isn't built properly around Barkley. Cut me some slack!

I'm taking Wilcox bitches.

I'll probably not do a write up until tomorrow because live poker makes my brain mush.

I posted the pick in the draft thread.

Here's an update to my program which shows the stats for each team and player. I made some changes to it, you can now search by year so you can easily compare team A to team B at any specific year or group of years you want. I also included the ability to show the stats cumulatively, so if you want to see a player's year 4-8 stats combined, you'll be able to do so. This doesn't work for the advanced stats since I didn't feel like programming in manual stat calculations, and in some cases (rebounding percentage, for example) I wouldn't even have the data to do so. Anyways, the screenshot links the zip file, just unzip the .exe and .txt file to the same directory and you should be good to go if you have Vista or .NET installed.

I would have take Skiles even if Muggsy and DA were still on the board. He is a more balanced offensive player, compared to Armstrong who isn't that good of a distrubutor and Muggsy's poor scoring efficiency. If I didn't already have a strong defender at PG, it would have been close between him and DA.

Micheal's career was a little too short for my liking. I believe the left foot injury was a recurring problem and not just a fluke.

I think I've got a tough decision coming up. May have to think about it (unless the guy I'm thinking of goes off the board next).

K guys I'm really drunk righu now which is good because I can use that as the excuse for my ****ty pick (I know it's weak value, but I have a glaring need for a center who favors to last more than 5 years)

I'm taking Joakim Noah.

The reason: Jermaine O'Neal is going to break in half in like 5 years so I need someone who is young enough that he will be coming into his prime as Jermaine is fading and hopefully at that time can step in to rebound and block some shots and provide a defensive presence. Joakim has the most potential of all the young bigs I was looking at, but he's also the biggest little bitch out of them, which made this hard for me to choose him. I considered a couple other young bigs who aren't such little douches, but Joakim just seems to have a higher ceiling and a better chance at emerging as a starter-quality player.

His numbers for his rookie season:

20mpg, 6.6ppg, 5.6rpg, 0.9bpg
per 36 mumbers: 11.5ppg, 9.8rpg, 1.5bpg

His TS% is like 54$

This is really hard you guys, here's the link to basketball reference

****, putting that url in was harder than writing the stats.

Anyway, there are better backup bigs available right now but with Manning/Aldridge/Jermaine I'm pretty set on my bigs for the immediate future, but I needed someone with youth and potential so that he could hopefully emerge as an adequate starter when Jermaine asplodes in 4-7 years or whatever his window of health is.

Team so far

Isiah Thomas
Brandon Roy
Richard Jefferson
LaMarcus Aldridge
Jermaine O'Neal
Danny Manning
Wally Sczerbababa
Joakim Noah

Oh yeah

As you can see from the first picture he can dribble. I'm sorta worried he bricked the **** out of the shot in that second pic though.

bobbo i think you should be trying to get toney (and ainge) more minutes than russell instead of just platooning those 2 at sg.

Looking at the team list, I really like what a few people have done.

I like Bobbo's team enough that, if we were to vote today, his team would be the team I would most want to own. I feel his team is a little underrated because people hate on the Coleman pick so hard that they don't want to like his team because of it. I didn't like the Coleman pick either, but Shaq with 4 guys from the YMCA would be formidable and I really like Jones and Ainge. The team also has depth at every position.

I also like how sergz' team panned out. With so many of us choosing players with relatively short windows, building a team that's going to peak a few years down the road seems really smart.

Same for Franchise' team, although his team is more designed to be competitive right away, 3 of his big time players, Stockton, Mullin and Oakley all had really long careers

I admit it, I just made the pick because I was tired of getting left out of KC's end of round review. I expect a minimum of three sweet montages.

Brings the Boston 07-08 Boston count to 9! Conceivably, with the 10th round, we can get most of these guys picked. Only 6 to go.
