I'd vote to skip if they don't pick within 36 hours. That's plenty of time and they can come back and pick whenever. Think of it sort of like the NFL rule.

I agree that this has been too long of a wait. So which option do we like best:

A. Skipping him. He gets to pick as soon as he shows up.

B. Letting someone take over his team completely.

C. Letting someone draft for him, but he gets his team back if he shows up

Doesn't matter to me.

Stick around Nopair, you are sure to get skipped again w/ this craziness brewing. If I were you I would just stare at my computer and keep pressing f5.

Skipped and we move to the next person. This works out for me since I am targeting two players right now and I currently have two people in front of me. Holla.

This is actually why I'm leaning away from this....it greatly benefits people drafting right after him, and while I don't mind penalizing people who are taking too long, I don't want to benefit people for no reason.

I was kind of sarcastically pointing that out.

The problem with this is what if he changes his pick and then the guys who drafted after him(and already made their pick) now want to change to the guy who we drafted for him but is not available.

So everyone can change if he shows up and wants to switch his pick? What if it goes like this:

Van_Exel_Fan doesn't show up and we take Player A for him.

Next team takes Player B.

Next Team takes Player C.

Van_Exel_Fan shows up and now claims he wants Player B. The team who took Player B now claims he wants Player C....now the 3rd team has to pick again too?

Just seems like we'd be better off waiting than going through all that, no?

Yeah, this seems like a pretty awful idea. I think A is by far the best option. It doesn't give the teams drafting after the truant owner nowehere near enough of an unfair advantage at this stage in the draft to warrant ditching it just for that reason. And I have the least to gain from it since I just picked, so this is completely objective.

why make it that difficult? Why not say they can change the pick only if they want someone still available? That's exactly what Victor meant.

Another problem with D is that it "outs" players (e.g. player A is picked for a truant owner, truant owner comes back and changes the pick to player B, but now other owners who may not have had player A on their radar know about him).

Just skip him, call it the Minnesota Vikings rule. It's not that big an advantage at this point in the draft, the pool of potential picks is huge. It might give a slight advantage to the teams behind him, but it's very slight, avoids all the swapping of picks that might occur if he gets picked for, and speeds up the draft.

who is up after him? If a bunch of people who are up after him are on now and we can really get the draft moving, then I'd be willing to just skip him and let him pick whenever he gets back(if he doesn't get back soon though we'd get someone to take over).

Yeah I'm not sure what the best decision is. Victor's idea is probably best.

I mean, I don't mind people taking their time, but BigCat was gone for 2-3 days, then team DX picked, then sergz... And it's been another 2-3 days since. Some time in the last week VEF should have been aware that his pick was coming soon, no?
