Fair enough, but I think my "I'd rather play 3-4 tables at a time only because its easy and not even like work" is just as good of an excuse as "I'd rather only work 15 hours per week because its easy on me." Epeen was trying to use that excuse for not making as much overall as I've made in Stars MTTs this year.

Haha, awesome.

There needs to be a HU freezeout match between Assani and E-peen. That or really blow it up an have an SE STT donkament including Bobbo, tbach (who FWIW I didn't even know played poker, much less so successfully, probably because he doesn't try to work it into conversation all the time), Victor, Clark and other SE regs who play for a living.

That or if nothing else we can set up a play money donkament on Stars where winner = bragging rights. Of course this would probably be populated by donks like me and not the names mentioned above.

Also, this forum may need a BS thread like you see in a lot of the other ones here. This thread has kind of devolved into OT which is fine with me but it does bug some people. But more importantly have a thread where OT is welcome and can be used by posters who don't stray from here much (like GKA for example). Thoughts?

lol

nath, thanks. I think traffic in this forum has something like tripled in the last two years so it's more of a "community" now (maybe more like a family since it's mostly just people arguing with each other constantly) and it may be a good idea. But since you span so many forums and both strat and OT your feedback is particularly valuable.

Anyway, I want to ask whether people prefer "Funky Cold Medina" or "Wild Thing" but don't have a place to ask. Alternatively I was just going to add it as a poll in a completely unrelated thread but don't start many threads...

(I for one was a Wild Thing guy growing up but now I prefer Funky Cold Medina for some reason, although one could argue these songs sound nearly identical.)

Why choose?

I guess if I had to I'd take "Wild Thing", but it's close. "Wild Thing" seems like the more obvious pick (and the more popular one), but I think part of the reason it's more popular is because it's just a liiiiittle better at a few things.

nath,

I just meant in an "if forced at gunpoint" kind of way.

Anyway, I think that Wild Thing was a bigger hit than FCM and since I was basically a top 40 listening sheeple at the time (still am) I probably just was more familiar with it.

If you consider the lyrics they are very similar: both involve Loc describing what a man whore he is and both involve him repeatedly ending up in unfortunate circumstances. In WT he has a chick's mother barge in on him and he unwittingly picked up a hooker. In FCM he has a dog humping his leg, a cross-dresser ("aint no plans with a man...this is the 80s and Loc is down with the ladies"), and a chick looking for commitment on the first date. Poor bastard.

I'm all about an off topic thread so we can hear Tuq's coke stories from the 80s.

Ok enough of the poker bragging, I would like to know how can people can really think Haywood is a great pick and Perkins is a bad one when Perkins is a better player right now (especially on defense which is why I picked him), and is only 23 where as Haywood is 28 so Perkins still has a lot of room to improve as well considering he has improved every year in the league except for 2 years ago when he played hurt all year long (and improved drastically this year)...

Also Bobbo, Franchise, Assani and all the others who said Perk's foul rate was the reason he didn't get more minutes, care to admit u were wrong (and the real reason is obv Doc) because Perkins only fouled out of 3 games all of this year, and even less last year...

I also find it hilarious that Perkins is on the WTF list when he isn't that much worse than Andris Biedrins who went in the 3rd round and Dalembert who went in the 4th

How often do big men improve much after 5 years in the league? It's not like Perkins was all that good this year. I don't think he has much room to improve. Looks like a career 25-30mpg or so with maybe 9/7 type stats. His per 36 mins stats were basically the same this year as 2-3 years ago. Nothing indicates he's improving.

This is why you can't always look at the stat sheet and actually have to watch the games to see the improvement.

Perks biggest improvement was on the defensive end which didn't show up in the stat sheet. His pick and roll defense especially, went from one of the worst in the league to one of the best because he dropped weight and gained mobility. He also drastically improved his 1v1 man to man defense, which won't show up in the stat sheet (unless you look at all the other very good/great centers he either shutdown or held in check which I listed).

And this 5 years in the league stuff is ridiculous, dude came right out of HS, you realize had he went to school for 4 years he would have been a rookie last year right? Not to mention he HAS improved every year in the league except for 2 years ago where he played hurt all year.

While I don't think that Perkins is an especially great pick (not worth trading for IMO), I'm really amazed at the love that Haywood gets compared to Perkins.
I feel that Perkins is already a superior defensive player (if you don't take the stupid fouling into account), he still has room to improve, as he is only 23.
The "he plays with strong rebounders" argument is definitely true when you compare perkins and haywood.

Of course, Perkins is a little more of a gambling pick, but as far as value go they're prety much equal

Personally I've pretty much been using this thread as an OT thread too, talking about poker, guitar hero, playing ball here in Vegas, and whatever else is on my mind.
