Posey is not better than Josh Smith.

I never said he was, I would rather have Posey especially on a team with a bunch of stars than Josh Smith though.

Anyone who says James Posey was more valuable to a team than reggie Lewis can be safely ignored in any basketball discussion.

Obviously he is. The criteria for being a stud are two:

1. above average D
2. Hit open 3's at 38% in your prime

Nothing else matters really.

Uh no, but those are by far the 2 biggest qualities for a SG/SF role player. Obviously other things matter but those 2 are by far the 2 most important for a role player.

We are factoring in the fact that he doesn't play with his condition. So yeah, James Posey is more valuable than a guy who doesn't get cleared to play or at best dies five years into his career. I guess I'm on ignore now.

Well I was obviously factoring in death/injury into it, but still even then, obviously Reggie Lewis is much more valueable to a team on a team with very few stars but on teams full of stars give me Posey over Lewis.

Even Team USA got smart enough to get these elite wing defenders/shooters like Battier, because they are more valueable to teams full of stars than other stars are who can't shoot/play defense at sg/sf.

I'd much rather have Josh Smith on a team of stars, a team without stars, a team with moons, anything.

Well obviously, if he can't actually play he has no value. 6 Years of Lewis still more value than Posey's entire career.

I expect you to. I also expect you to not know the difference of his value on a team with stars or without stars.

Epic fail. Because why would you want a guy superior in every aspect of the game except ability to where knee pads?

I'm not sure I agree, but this is a pretty sick burn.

Huh? Reggie Lewis was not a better 3pt shooter or defender than Posey is.

This thread has taken basically everything that is underrated or slightly underrated in basketball and just run away with all of it.

They are also much more valuable in the international game and it's why they brought them. They also brought a real PG which really helped during the last WC. I'm sorry but AI is a horrible Team USA pg.

I think what Assani is pointing out is that because Bowen is the player that teams opt to double off of, it shows that he is considered by coaches and players to be the least offensive threat.

Dream Team didn't have any problem winning without scrubs, neither would the USA if they built the team to play the international game. I guess bringing guys like Battier helps but there are other star alternatives.

It is a well known fact that the better some players on your team are, the worse you want other players to be.

Dream Team was also playing some of the worst basketball teams of all time.

It's amazing how the original Dream Team was even able to win with all those stars.

uh no.

Let me ask you a question, for a role player who plays off the ball and plays the SG/SF position, what are the 2 most important qualities for them to have?
