But the numbers just aren't close here. Wade is able to take as many or as few attempts a game (and ends up not taking many) and still isn't even CLOSE to the accuracy of TB.

If Magic had longevity he'd be better than Kareem.

I needed a C w/ my last pick otherwise I was drafting Byron Scott--I ****ing love him and was so hoping everyone would somehow just forget about him (not likely I know).

Now I just hope everyone forgets about my other guy!

Yeah, well TB is a better rebounder than Shaq, even tho the #'s don't bear that out. I've seen them both play in their primes and that should be enough for you.

I think at last count it was like 18-7. So even though it didn't hit the requisite 20 votes, I'm pretty sure coaches are out.

How does everyone feel about expanding the draft to 12 rounds?

I vote no to expanding the draft to 12 rounds. The 11th and 12th round will, in my view, contribute basically no substance to the teams but expand the drafting process by at least another 3 weeks. There's just not enough minutes to go around for 12 players.

Could a mod please edit this into the draft thread...THANKS!

Round 5, Pick 194 - Kelly Tripucka SF

Kelly Tripucka brings to my team (artest, r. miller, rodman, perkins) an excellent scoring option when Artest gets a little too fiesty.
Offensively, Tripucka can do it all. He has the ability to get to the line and convert (6.3 FTA/per36 @ .849%), he is
pretty efficient (.552TS%), he can hit the longball (.361% 3FG), and he can flat out score (17.2 career PPG, 20.9/per36).
He also can move the ball a little providing 3 APG.

He made 2 All-Star teams.

So I'm thinking that I need more O (and this pick is not a response to an earlier post today saying that my team may struggle
on offense). Tripucka can come off the bench and score either when Miller needs a breather or if Artest takes an ill-advised
shot. I have another pick coming up shortly and I'm thinking that my PG should still be available so I am starting my bench
first.

Team so far:

PG
SG Reggie Miller
SF Ron Artest
PF Dennis Rodman
C Sam Perkins
6 Kelly Tripucka

I wouldn't draft Ruland in this thing but I always LOVED watching him on ESPN classics growing up and on highlight tapes.

ruland's injury woes extended beyond foot problems, but when healthy, his stats were very good. things that stood out for me was that he played a ton of minutes, had a ton of turnovers, and a pretty good amount of assists for a guy his size and role.

one of the best arguments for going 12 rounds is to let the reverse snake fully complete. 12 is a lot of guys though

also JoA is online, so at least we can get to bigcat (even though he hasn't been online in a week). non-active guys tilt the **** out of me tbh, but i have to understand that some people have lives.

BTW I played full court 5 on 5 today. I don't know if I will be able to move tomorrow.

Damn, I was hoping Ruland would get overlooked due to his short peak and I'd be able to add him in a later round.

don't like the pick, though I knew it was coming with the mustache hint. I had him as like a 9th or 10th round selection due to injury.

However, McFilthy is the best NBA nickname ever.

Sampson and Ruland were both on my list as guys I hoped would slip, but when evaluating them I wasn't expecting anything more than a couple of great seasons followed by a world of problems. So I will view them the same on other peoples teams.

Round 5 Pick 196 - SF/PF Derrick McKey

Derrick McKey fits in with my team's philosophy for a few reasons:

1. He's versatile. He could play both SF and PF. I have 4 players who can play multiple positions. With only 9 (or 10) players it's important to have players who can play wherever you need them to. This gives me extreme flexibility with the 6th man position, because I can slide positions over to put in the best bench player I need.

2. He's tall. This gives my team heights of 6-3, 6-6, 6-9, 6-10, and 7-1. I think this is important to avoid size mismatches on the defensive end of the floor while creating them on the offensive end.

3. He could guard anyone on the floor, solidifying my wing D. In fact, he gives me 3 all defensive players, and in the most important positions - the 3, 4, and 5. Good luck scoring in the paint.

4. He could pass pretty well. In Indiana he had ast% ranging from 15-19, and even managed to dish 4.5 a game at 27. While I have no true distributor, Porter, Aguirre, McKey, and Robinson were all good creators and are capable of finding the open man.

5. He scored efficiently - from 24-29 his TS% ranged from .543 to .575.

6. He was good at 24. He scored 15.3 points per game at a .575 ts% with 1.2 steals per game and 5.8 rebounds. The rest of my team was absolutely sick at 24.

Team so far:

PG Terry Porter
SG Mark Aguirre
SF Derrick McKey
PF A.C. Green
C David Robinson

This reminds me, did we ever decide if his HIV was a fluke? Would modern knowledge / medical advancements prevent him from catching it? Is 17 years since diagnosis with no apparent medical problems a fluke?
