Meh, Kukoc is unspectacular imo...gotta realize how much his stats were helped by playing with Jordan and Pippen too.

Round 4 Pick 140: SF Corey Maggette

After the Horford blowup I needed to grab a wing who could score and who wasn't a complete liability on the defensive end. Corey Maggette fills both of those needs. Maggette will be able to slash the lane leaving Richmond to roam on the perimeter. Arguably Maggette's best asset is getting to the FT line which will also help if I have to slow things down in a halfcourt set. He can also run the floor like the rest of my players. On the break I expect my team to be very deadly. Maggette's midrange game is also solid. He's a tremendous athlete with great strength who I'm hoping can help on D. Injuries are a bit of a concern but I feel like I'm getting one of the BPA here.

Team so far:
PG: Jason Kidd
SG: Mitch Richmond
SF: Corey Maggette
PF/C: Al Horford

I really don't want to continue talking about this. I'll just say this. Grant Hill missed ~40 games in 9 years, then hurt his ankle, played on it when he probably shouldn't have, had multiple surgeries, got a staph infection, and after not really playing for 3 years, was never really the same. If you think this is anything but "freak" and the result of bad luck then you need to have your head checked.

And that's it, nothing more.

Edit- to prevent any more stupid questions, I drafted Grant Hill because of these sentiments, I don't have these sentiments because I drafted Grant Hill as some are implying.

10% is basically saying that a player having his career completely derailed by injuries means nothing.

Grant Hill had previous ankle problems, and he took an insane amount of time to recover from an injury. That = injury prone.

They might be in good shape (debatable for Penny), but that doesn't mean that there bones and ligaments are in good shape.

I have such a giant mancrush on Maggette. I've been half-pissed at myself for drafting Bird because it blocked me from Maggette. Such a stud.

Corey not a bad pick. Looks brilliant compared to Hoford.

if "playing on it when he shouldn't have" leads to an assload of surgeries and 3 years of recovery, your genetics suck and you're injury prone.

You realize you could play Bird at PF right? Infact I like Bird at PF a lot better than him at SF.

I am seriously aching hard over this pick. I can't decide if I need the better 3-point shooter or the better player. I feel I'm getting good value either way. Is there anyone who doesn't pick for a while who would be willing to lend me an opinion?

Not sure I like it. You won't be able to play any defense. That said, Corey is a very good scorer for this juncture in the draft, but do you really need someone like that when you have JKidd?

It must suck to continue drafting after you picked Horford. There's really not much point.

I think almost anyone would have. I really got caught up in projecting in my mind what Horford could become and deciding he was a good pick in the 3r. I think it's a bit of the flaw when evaluating the U24s and the guys who haven't established track records. Then again this is a made up franchise draft so w/e I can take the abuse.

not me. Maybe it'll be a split time thing and I like the flexibility it gives me, but I like him starting at the 3.

Sick production at a very nice 6.0 C3 contract.

Really? I would put him at PF.

First on offense, PF's are def going to have a MUCH harder time matching up vs Bird than SF's would.

And on D, I think he also matches up better vs PF's than vs SF's since he is slow. He can also rebound really well too, even vs PF's so that isn't a problem.

Thinking about it even more, I would def play him at PF.
