I like how you ignored every offensive stat I brought up btw.

You mention that Prince has played on winning teams, but if anything that should help his efficiency numbers, and hes not as efficient as AK47. I'd much rather have the more efficient guy in a league like this where I'm not going to need a ton of bulk scoring.
I liked the AK pick a lot - thought he was good value here.

The knock on AK that I have often heard locally is that he has never really learned the offense, and winds up in the wrong spot which in turn gets him into Sloan's dog house. He also occasionally gets "lost" on the defensive end, but usually makes up for it with his atheletic ability and length. This was much more forgiveable when he was a very young player with a language barrier on a poor team. Much of his problems on the court and his unhappiness in the 06-07 season stemmed from this. This year (07-08) his improved stats are generally attributed (at least here in Utah) to the team having hired Jeff Hornacek, mostly to work 1-1 with Andre on his offensive game (mostly shooting, but also understanding where he needs to be on the offensive end and why he needs to be there). So you will want to make sure the coaching staff gives him a lot of personal attention.

So why is Drazen more likely to die than AK? AK is european, AK is unhappy about playing time? Unless Drazen was prone to drunk driving, or not wearing his seatbelt, or getting hummers from east German transexuals while smoking crack and checking hist stock prices on his iphone, why would he be more likely to die in a car crash?

I think arguing that someone is more or less likely to die in a car crash or something along those lines is ******ed unless we have evidence that the person does something out of the ordinary to put themselves in danger.

The chances of this happening to someone is so small that it isn't even worth discussing imo.

Unfortunatley even though i'm defending this pick, Drazen was not wearing his seatbelt when he died in a car crash. However there are tons of other NBA players who don't wear their seatbelt either (of course we don't know who they all are since seatbelt stuff only comes out in tragedys like this), so they should be just as prone as Drazen was.

Regardless even though he wasn't wearing his seatbelt doesn't mean he always didn't (he was sleeping too and sometimes people who sleep don't wear a seatbelt for comfort). And even if he never wore his seatbelt, the chances he'd still be involved in a fatal car crash is ridiculously small as is.

and he was probably the only nba player ever to let the girlfriend drive, so Assani's probably right, but I take my chances

re injury and body type. This should be fairly easy to see if there is a basic level of correlation. An in dex of their weight/hight ratio + the % of games missed during their career. Could be used to determine if skinny guards are more or less likely to be injured than those with the pudge. Same with big men.

Ya I have a feeling no one is going to take the time to do this (would have to be a huge sample size too).

I think we need to discuss this more in depth....

You're assuming that he would've been fine if he didn't come back early, but I don't think you can make that assumption. You have no clue if it was simply an injury that was bound to give him recurring problems or not.

1. Why do I just miss out?

2. I'm curious as to what you'd offer since we all have higher 4th and 5th round picks.

I'm pretty sure doctors said it would have been fine if he had let it rest. I could only find this tho "In a win at Chicago on March 27, McHale broke the navicular bone in his right foot. He ignored doctors' advice that the injury could be career-threatening and continued to play."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_McHale

So basacally that implies he would have been fine had he let it heal.

Also McHale imo is just as likley to break his foot as anyone else in this league, if not less likley since he didn't jump that high. Why can't Jordan or anyone else break his foot?

Its not ******ed because I disagree.

I mean wtf are we arguing? That AK-47 is less likely to die in a car crash? Who the hell cares.

Dying in a car crash is the definition of a freak injury. By your rules Drazen shouldn't be more likely to die in a car crash for this exercise than anyone else. If he had a 5th of JD in his blood and an 8ball on the dashboard than maybe we have something, but if not it just seems pointless to me.

Stop being so defensive btw, I wasn't calling you ******ed. Just stating that the entire discussion is dum dum.

I'm also in similar talks with another owner who drafts near you(won't mention his name since he PMed me and I think thats kinda bad etiquette to share PMs). But the problem is that you guys don't have higher 5th round picks either, so wheres the incentive? As I told him, you could give up your 5th rounder for my 6th rounder in order to move up in the 4th, but thats a big drop for you guys and I dunno if you'd want to do that. Can't really think of much else.

The bolded parts don't correlate imo.
