Ok.

First: Cafe du Monde beignets live up to the hype. Not a coffee drinker but enjoyed their cafe du lait as well.

He's taking Hornacek.

Round 3 Pick 103

Jeff Hornacek - Guard

85th career Defensive Win Shares
33rd career Win Shares
40th career Assists
17th Carrer Offensive rating
31st career Steals
46th career Win Shares Above Average
21st Career 3PT Percentage
14.5 PPG Average

After drafting a couple of bigs, especially two guys who are great without the ball and excellent pick 'n roll players, I felt it was time to draft a guard who would excel in both. I feel Jeff Hornacek is the perfect player because he could shoot, drive, and pass with the best of them. Also, he represents another high basketball IQ, unselfish, team oriented player to go along with the two I've got.

Attributes:

Durability and Longevity - Hornacek played 14 seasons, and the most action he missed was 15 games, which happened once. His only missed 5 one other time in his career.

Versatility - Jeff played the point in Phoenix until Kevin Johnson Arrived, and played SG for much of his career. He's come off the bench and started, he's been the teams first, second, and third options, and done them all with the same level of consistency.

Consistency - Jeff has a career PER of 17.7, and if you exclude his rookie season, this number has been rock-steady for most of his career. That is quite an accomplishment considering he has played for multiple teams.

Shooting - His career True Shooting % of .582, Free Throw % of .877, and FG% .496 are excellent for a mid volume shooter.

Defense - Jeff was an average to above average defender. While his career Defensive Rating was 108, he did manage to rack up 96 Defensive Win Shares along with 1.4 steals a game.

Even though he was a capable defender, defense had little to do with my choice. Jeff was consistently one of the most efficient offensive players in the league, and has playmaking capabilities to boot. His mid and long range shooting ability will make defending a Laimbeer/Garnett PnR extremely tough, and defenders will be punished for leaving Jeff when KG is in the post.

Team so far:

Kevin Garnett - PF
Bill Laimbeer - C
Jeff Hornacek - G (dunno which yet)

Me too, I even spelled it out in a previous post. Didn't think he was going to trade, though.

In the end, I wanted a combo guard who could shoot lights out, or a PG who was awesome on the PnR. There are a few left, but none as prolific at scoring/3ball and capable on D. Plus my 5th was going to be a reaaaaaaaccchhhhh.

Iggy is picked. Fun fun fun. Another young guy......I thought better than JJ or Battier overall. Battier is definitely stronger defensively and JJ offensively but I like Iggy's overall game much better. He is definitely young though.
