no, i think you realize it's a real gamble... i made the obvious choice with my first pick, and than a solid/safe/good pick second pick, i thought this type of move would catapult my team or backfire badly, so, we'll have to see which one.

The thing about taking DC here is that a backfire doesn't even really kill your team if you protect yourself. Plus the reverse snake is going to start to favor the top picks big time, so you should be able to get really good value in your next pick.

I like it, its hard to get a legit number two option in the middle of the third round. I also don't really look at EJ as a #2 option, but a great #3 so I think it works well.

Al started off as a subtle actor and now just yells alot???...ok - maybe in the Godfather series - but scarface...hmmmm- not so much. I wouldnt say hes turned into more of a "yeller"...I guess if the role asks for it (but thats not even his call)

The Recruit<<<I enjoyed this movie
Devils Advocate<<<good movie
Donnie Brasco<<<<really good movie
Oceans 13<<<sucked - but AL wasnt bad...and more importantly - didnt yell

...all somewhat recent - and no over "yelling".

and to keep this basketball related - Im sure Pacino would agree with me when I say Horford is the official reach pick of this round.

The Insider is a very good movie with both Al Pacino and Russel Crowe and Mike Wallace as Mike Wallace.

Scarface was after his prime, and was the start of like a ten year stretch of crap movies. He did Scent of a Woman, won an oscar, and has been over the top every since in a bunch of movies.

I love Pacino, but c'mon, this isn't some theory I've just created on my own.

You just named 4 movies, one of which I would classify as a really good movie. Wasn't over the top in the recruit and DA, riiiight.

I guess I havnt watched it in a longg time to remember AL yelling in that one...

I rmemeber him being the calm cool snake who was trying to seduce Charlize and trying to recruit Keanu.

Actualy - I forgot the actual "Devil scenes" lol - where hes actually the devil - but thats not really him as much as it is special effects..no? (honestly - I guess I dont remember it as well as I thoguht I did...I bought the DVD when it first came out on DVD...and watched it once since then....so Im a lil rusty I guess)

I did just watch Unbreakable again - forgot how good that was...I love going through my DVDs once in a while and surprising myself with movies I havnt watched in a long time - and them being surprisingly better than I thought they would be.(cue Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels)

But on the other end - I stopped smoking weed about 4 years ago (cold turkey) and I just rewatched Half Baked again for the time since then - and I have to say...it might not be an Oscar worthy film like I initially thought it was.

edit: trying to keep this bball related - Dave Chapelle sucks at basketball....but he is rich bi*ch

Pacino is still badass and would dunk on Horford.

Carlito's Way was awesome to, but pre Heat

Our teams are going to be really similar if my guy falls to me. I'm going to take a very safe pick so I'll have one star(Duncan/Shaq), one question mark(DC/Penny) and one safe pick(EJ/??).

3. Best pick of this round/worst pick?
1. I'm very surprised by it. I think people are missing out on some good value elsewhere. I'm very glad I got Duncan early though...really nice luxury to not have to worry about post defense.

2. Best defensive 3some: GP/Sheed/Chandler.

Worst defensive 3some: Parker/Hawkins/TMac

Best offensive 3 some: Hill/Sabonis/Kemp

Worst offensive 3 some: Nobody really stands out

3. Best pick: Honestly no pick screams great value to me right now. I've had 5 guys at the top of my list for the past 15 or so picks and nobody has taken any of them. Obviously we all have different rankings though.

Worst Pick: Horford/Battier

Going to bed, (finally, heh) but wanted to comment on your comments, hopefully to brew further comments.

1. I think people do realize that good interior defense is essential, and thus perhaps are overvaluing it. I do think there is lots of value to be had elsewhere, which means a run of a different sort will likely start soon.

2. If Nicholas went Tay (I think he was deciding between those two) a Tay/Buck/'Zo 3/4/5 is deadly. As is, I agree, cowboy's fan looks like the strongest defensively. It may not count because he has 4 already, but KLJ's Eaton/Moncrief/Vince/McDyess is a very solid defensive team too.

That 3some you mention (Dudd's team) will be poor defensively, but I think Mebenhoe's 3some (Kiki, Ray, Brand) and Sammykid's 3some (Finley, Melo, Yao) are close behind.

Victor (Amare, Price, Tay) and BigCat (Baron, Bosh, Worthy) aren't as weak but may need to worry a little bit in this regard too.

Tbach's trio (Hill/Sabonis/Kemp) sure seems like the best offensive team, although BigCat's team looks very effective offensively too. I wouldn't sleep on GKA's team (Miller/Pau/Paul). Zoidberg (Biedrins, KJ, Nique) should be able to score too.

It's hard to classify any team as a BAD offensive team, since all these teams will be able to score at some level, but I think fanmail will have trouble putting up points (thorpe, big ben, AI).

The best team top to bottom looks like the Hill/Sabonis/Kemp core, but the problem with his team which should be duly noted is that all three guys are huge question marks. It's one thing to have one guy you're not sure about - but all 3? We'll see!

3. Best pick of the 3rd round to me has been Detlef. I loved the pick. Really liked Sabonis where he fell too. I didn't like the Battier or Horford reach, either.

Damnit...this whole time I was planning on targetting Michael Cooper in the 4th round, but I just now see that he played SEVEN MINUTES in 1978-79 so hes not eligible. Damn thats gay. Such a great defender and a pretty efficient offensive player.

If he were eligible, would he have lasted to my pick in the 4th round(very early pick)?

huh? you can look these up statistically (hell, or even watch some games), but VC is/was an above average defender (and a good weak side defender) in the NBA. in this super-league, he'll end up around the average. mcdyess is/was a clear good defender (obviously not all-NBA level), but good nonetheless.

I disagree, for the following reasons:
size matters (especially against the lol amount of 7-footers in this league). biedrins and chandler weigh 240 and 235 respectively for example, which is going to be blown up by going against shaq, robinson, hakeem, mchale, mourning, yao, etc every night.
durability/stamina matters. there has been plenty of guys that block a lot of shots or are tall, but play ****ty defense. or cant play for an extended period of time. eaton was not one of these.

I like, and he was one of my top 5 BPA. Clearly risk/reward, because he was on the nutjob level of Artest. The alcoholism and overall laziness is clearly a factor, and a really unpredictable one at that. Still talented though. If he hadn't been so injury prone I like it better, but if you wanted a risk/reward guy he's one of the best.
