the 85 and 196 for my 113 and 128.

Aguirre's defensive metrics are probably hurt by playing on the Mavericks. When he switched to Detroit they were much more respectable (106 or so).

Baron is interesting. On paper he's obviously a chucker, but paired with the efficiency and James Worthy, that seems like a great fit. Defensively Baron is quite good, athletic, and finishes with the best of them.

I am taking Detlef Schrempf. A man so German, he makes Dirk Nowitzki look Ethiopian. Writeup coming.

But by the same token his offensive metrics were hurt. I think it's a decent pick, but so was Kiki (he played in the fastest paced offenses of that time).

It's more of a defense for Kiki than critic of Mark...

Aguirre > Kiki IMO b/c of the assist + Reb #s. Also I think Aguirre > Kiki on D. He was pretty decent on those Det. teams, I think in the right team, he can play good team D. Kiki was just v v bad.

Ah, I knew he would go soon. Good pick with Detlef. Not sure about his D but his PER and TS% are very good TS% especially high.

I considered pairing Robinson with Detlef. Parking Detlef at the 3p line while Robinson posts low and running a two man game with either him or Porter would've been great.

OK, starting my Aguirre writeup.

Aguirre was no worse of a defender on Dallas than he was on Detroit. That's where the metrics are skewed considering the teams you are on. If you look at the comparative metrics for those Detroit teams, he was the worst of anyone who played significant minutes over those years.

He was a better rebounder and passer, but Kiki was a much better shooter. I think it's a wash, perhaps Mark Aguire was a little better. Both guys had amazing numbers playing on bad teams who scored a lot of points.

Detlef! Master race in the house yall.

Love Detlef, awesome shooter, his per36 numbers were almost 20/10/5 at his peak. Just a great player that will fit in with a lot of different teams and will contribute in so many ways. Decent on D too, on those sick Sonics teams he played great in the team concept on D.

Yea Germans!

Detlef is a great pick imo. Very versatile, no real weaknesses.

Anyone remember the DePaul teams with Aguirre and Cummings? Maybe the best college teams I have seen that didn't win the NC (IIRC they went undefeated in regular season once or twice).

Re Aguirre + Kiki on D. Seadood, you may be right about Aguirre. Im going on memory about him on Detroit - I don't remember him being horrible, but it was a long time ago. I do remember seeing Kiki, who was LOL bad. But those Denver teams weren't really about D either.

Also, for this league, I think Aguirre will have a more productive/healthy career. Nine seasons after 24 of 74+ games, while Kiki only with 5 before injuries set in.

That's a good point, I can't argue with that. But from a player only perspective I don't think Kiki is as bad as people have been maintaining. Once again it wasn't a knock on Aguirre, just a defense of Kiki.

Last 3 picks have all been pretty good. Baron + Bosh + Worthy.... wow that is pretty sick already, you just need a big body now. Aguirre ofc wondering when he would go, dude had ridiculous numbers and if his defense is bad it's not that big a deal with Robinson anchoring the middle. IMO in the NBA if you're not a center you can have bad D as long as your center can defend the paint bc bad individual D can be made up for with good team defense. Detlef, great pick, perhaps a bit early but not sure who is on your team. Dude was an insanely productive role player throughout his career and was good at everything.

Round #3/Pick #81: Antonio Keithflen McDyess (no, that's not a nickname, its his middle name)

McDyess was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers with the 2nd overall selection in 1995. McDyess was known for his versitility, mostly based on his impressive explosiveness, strength and agility. His main skills included a mid-range jump shot (which he continued to refine over his career), solid post defense and tenacious rebounding. Before his devastating (and I argue a "freak" injury) torn patella tendon early in 2001, McDyess was simply a beast. His durability is evidenced by his play following from injury. While he had lost explosiveness, McDyess continued to improve his other skills and played 77, 82, 82, 78 games in the next 4 seasons. If that isn't enough evidence, Victor suggests, "u can hire assanis doctors and he becomes amare."

Pre-injury, McDyess averaged 18/9 with 1 spg and almost 1.73 bpg. Post-injury, he returned in a 6th man role on the Pistons (with less playing time as before), but still rebounding and shooting at the same efficiency per 36 minutes. His defense and basketball IQ had improved with experience, allowing him to stay competitive on one of the best teams in the league.

Reasoning: Versatility. McDyess possesses a myriad of skills that can help a variety of teams. He is an impressive post defender, who often is depended on to guard his opponents' centers. His speed and agility allow him to actively participate in the fast break, while his reliable jumpshot, coupled with superior finishing skills around the basket, makes him a threat in the half-court offense.

For those that didn't have the privilege of watching McDyess, this is a 3 minute youtube of dunk after dunk, after dunk. There is a must-watch series at 1:30 of about 10 ridiculous blocks where he just destroys shots.

My team is far:
SG: Sid "The Squid" Moncrief
SF: Vince "Vinsanity" Carter
PF: Antonio Keithflen McDyess

Green Kool Aid, you are on the clock...

Clark also needs to edit in my recap. My "teams so far" should replace the draft order imo (well it is the draft order just with updated teams that's nice of me ain't it?)

JoA currently has the best 3-man team. Aguirre > Kiki due to not being sooo one dimensional, even if he is mainly a scorer. He also fits JoA's team better. His team is much better defensively and has 3 clear roles so far.
