GKA took Andre Miller to go with Pierce and Pau. I like Andre but I don't know if I like the pairing just cause one of Andre's best plays is the alley-oop dunk and Pau is not a high flyer.

Andre Miller!

Ok GKA officially has the best passing team in the draft.

You also just flat out miss two years. For some reason I thought he was out longer. I'm starting to really like this pick.

McDyess was a beast pre-injury, and has shown that he can be good even losing two years of what should be his prime. I'm not sure how this team is going to shake out, but KLJ has clear needs now, which I guess is a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. On one hand it's tougher to take the BPA due to needs, on the other hand your team starts to gain an identity which can be important early.

The only thing that worries me about McDyess is his defense, I don't know that he's ever been a stellar defender, and his DRtg is a bit high for someone who plays PF and is counted on for post defense. However, you will get solid offensive production which is all you need from a PF here with Carter and Moncrief likely taking plenty of shots themselves.

I think there were a lot of other PGs available that shouldve been taken over Dre. Dont like it.

McHale discussion played out

Penny discussion played out

Not enough analysis about how these players played the best teams or about athleticism which is way more relevant in this format than say a 40/10/8 career average against the miami heat.

Best value round 2:

1. Nance - Sick O, great post defense, highly athletic which is a plus in this format.
2. Eddie Jones - Great scorer that can make it rain from the perimeter as well as get to the basket on cuts if shaq passes out of inevitable double team.
3. Laimbeer - Best post defender of the 80s.
4. Mullin - dream team ldo

Worst Picks

1. Bynum - ldo
1a. Starbury - ldo
3. Peja - Basically Rice, Mullin and Jones do every thing he does better.
4. Melo - headcase good luck
5. Wallace - No O is just not acceptable in that spot esp. considering Wallace had a short peak and Bill. L replicates his skill set but at a higher quality.

yeah, i think his offense is going to be "makes the extra pass too often". andre miller is one of the best PASSING pgs... but he has a SF who is a great passer with the ball in his hands and arguably one of the best PF/C passing bigs in the game...

is there such a thing as too much ball movement???

Just to clarify, a question to the people who are making/enforcing the rules here.

When discussing teams at this stage, is it ok to discuss what a team now needs to be productive? Is it ok to talk about what positions are needed but not necessarily what to look for in players at those positions? I'm just wondering because it's never really been talked about and it gets to be more of a discussion point as teams start to fill out.

Miller's okay, but there are enough PGs to make it a weird reach here.

If anyone wants to trade down (lol, I'm sure there are) PM me or whatever.

Hey man I'm a Nugs fan. The answer is a very biased "no."

I like how we've got 4 nugs over the past couple years in the draft. Worst team to have that many guys go?

I think this is okay, as long as you aren't naming specific players, talking about the weaknesses that need to be shored up by certain teams is certainly encouraged.

SHIP IT! Although I always thought Ewing was the best post defender.

about dice man's defensive stats: remember, defensive statistics generally suck, although they do properly show "good" defenders vs "bad" defenders. he's had 3 career double digit DWS years (nearly 5), career 103 Drtg (preinjury he put up a 98 which is phenomenal, but his rookie years killed him - if you remove his pre 24 years he's ~102 DRtg, which is somewhat better then avg but nothing great). his per 36 numbers are 6.5 dreb (20.7% d reb rate), 1 steal, 1.5 blocks, 4 fouls (quite alot per 36). he's a beast muscle-wise but he's only 6'9, so although he's a "Forward-Center" this is really not true, he can play the 4 and only the 4. as a comparison to some PFs picked above him defensively (lets use Horace Grant)...
through 12 seasons their per 36 numbers look like:
4 PF vs 2.7. 1.5 bpg v 1.0. 1.1 spg v 1.0. 20.7% defensive rebound rate vs 18.2%.

Basically, he's very comparable to Horace Grant defensively. (In size too, both were muscular). I'm not sure my point is here, only, Mc. Dice is slightly above average defensively but can't really guard more then 1 position.

i am going to do a super long post tomorrow aobut why the pick was awesome, but my brief thinking was:

gasol and pierce are very above average passers for their position, as is andre miller. this team will be a lot like the lakers now, only better, and will be facilitating ball movement until there are easy scores. i want to get a dunker who can play decent defense and a 3 point shooter to fill out this team, and i think it will be an unstoppable offensive force.

miller's 24 and 25 year old seasons were pretty unreal, and he has also missed five games his whole career. at least a couple were from mid season trades where he had to sit out a couple of games.

i really like my team. and even if we lose to teams with lebron and shaq and jordan, it will be beautiful basketball.

Ewing never really blossomed on D until the 90s, but his peak D was much better.

Also Bill rebounded the **** out of the ball on both ends (at the expense of some help D). I can only think of 1-2 better rebounders that played at the same time he did, one is parish and the other is undrafted.

Hakeem was a better interior defender overall because of his superior help defense but for pure posting up Laimbeer would mentally destroy the other player with consistent contact. He was also great at using his arms and body to keep opponents from taking the entry pass or forcing them to take it at the high post. Both these skills are under-represented in box scores because they caused the O to shift away from the post before shots (vs. forcing bad shots).

I should note I hate the guy as a person and the kind of basketball he represents.

this is about Andre Miller -

note that he's slightly below average defensively though, and the thing he does extraordinarily well (pass) his team has covered. so... can't say it's the best choice

Your team is pretty underrated defensively imo. Honestly, I think Miller is one of those guys that fits better than the other guys at that position.

or a power forward center type player who can finish alley oops from dre miller and also grab the occasional rebound.

i'm thinking stromile swift with a few more brain cells.

and if i get banned for saying stromile swift then so be it.
