How do I go about getting one of these super sweet assistant gm's to help me make all of my decisions?

I'll try craiglist I suppose.

He was great for about 5 years. Then he kinda fell off the map.

I'm available to all through PM. You might not agree with what I say, but I'll generally put some effort into it, and at least give an alternate viewpoint.

Really really tilted. Nicholas PMed me back at 6:30AM my time saying: "i'll do this trade if u pm me to confirm in the next 20ish minutes before I post my pick". Obviously I just woke up so I missed out on him. And then my guy was taken within the next few picks.

Sidney Moncrief was the guy I had really really wanted(Seadood I tried to be as honest as possible without giving it away when you PMed me about him). I won't go into details now, but I think hes by far the steal of the draft.

It just sucks for me that Nicholas actually would've done the trade but we just weren't on at the same time(despite me being on 10+ hours per day!!!!) and then my guy goes a few picks later.

I still may be interested in trading up, but I'm not as willing to pay a huge price now.

I am glad to see a lot of picks made and a few pages worth of discussion. I'll be sure to catch up on all of that when I have a chance later today.
So what you are saying is that I was 100% right on who I thought you were trying to trade for.. I'll take it. I figured it was one of the guys I mentioned after the ambiguity of your PM(Price or Squid)...

I debated moving up for Squid as well, but figured there would still be depth in the draft, and even though he was clearly the BPA as much as 15 picks ago, pairing him with our KG or Timmay isn't the best option.

Anyhow the Moncrief pick may be the steal of the draft so far. What's not to like about the guy? You get one of the most efficient offensive guards in the draft, and one of the best defenders. Sid could also play 4 positions (perhaps 3 in todays game) and would always guard the other team's toughest non-center.

great great pick.

lol, just PM people with questions if you want. I'd be willing to give advice on picks, I mean, I'm not super competitive anyway.

lol.. most of the people I talk picks with are other GMs, so it's probably -EV. Then again JoA is smarter than me, so I probably win.

Yeah, but then I talk to Clark, who's smarter than me.

I was being sarcastic fwiw.

I think discussing players in PM and not being able to discuss them in the thread is dumb.

One's easy to enforce, one's impossible.

And one is discreet. When I talk to JoA, Clark, Bobbo, etc.. it's guys I know know the game very well and probably have a lot of the same ideas with regards to personnel. It's not like I'm blasting out to a list "GUYS DON'T SLEEP ON HARDAWAY"

So don't enforce either of them.

At least don't have people come into the thread being like "I told X to pick X."

That way we can at least pretend that there isn't a group of posters helping each other out while the rest of the draft is thinking on their own and getting threatened with bans for mentioning possible 9th round selections.

Hes pretty much a less efficient version of Reggie Miller, no? And considering where Miller went, I think it makes sense. With that said, I wasn't considering drafting him at all.

I think it'd be great to freely discuss undrafted players in this thread. Mostly because I'm not in it lol.

I can see why a thread rule is in place (I think it also helps with the drama), but I don't see problems with people PMing each other. So what if people are helping each other out? As long as they aren't colluding it's actually hurting them. If I tell Clark I'm targetting Buck Williams before it's his pick, doesn't that hurt me more than anything?

I was going to bring up TMac, but then I went and looked at the stats. Wow TMac is an insanely inefficient scorer, while Pierce is pretty damn efficient. Obviously Pierce's 60% TS% this year is in part do being surrounded by such a good team, but for his career hes at 56% which is damn good for a bulk scorer who is asked to do so much.

TMac meanwhile is pretty bad at only 52% TS% for his career and under 49% this year(yuck!!!). And its not like he hasn't been surrounded by decent talent around him in Vince/Hill/Yao.

To give a comparison, Iverson is widely critisized as an inefficient scorer, but his TS% for his career is only .3 percentage points lower, and hes had very little surrounding talent and is even more of a bulk scorer than TMac.

He's someone I'd reluctantly draft if he was the BPA.

btw about 6 or 7 picks ago I mentioned that I couldn't believe someone is still available....and he still hasn't been picked. I guess I could just be overrating him.

I mentioned this briefly way upthread, but it didn't get much notice. Which actual NBA team would be the strongest under the rules of this draft?

2004 Lakers would be pretty sick, but I can't think of anyone who'd beat the 2003 Spurs.
