First of all, excellent to have all these picks to come back to. I take back what I said about it not going fast enough.

Love the Parker pick, love the Tim Hardaway pick, especially like both pairings.

edit: Parker is great with TMac because both can play in the half court offense but both can go up tempt to some degree as well. You have two guys who
can handle the ball well and both can distribute somewhat. TMac makes up for Parker's lack of outside shot. Both take it to the rack really well, so there is a lot of flexibility when it comes to drafting a front court: you can get a guy who has range, guy who can crash the boards, guy who plays well without the ball and has good hands/can finish well, etc.

Yeah he's great, but when you have Tmac on your team, on point guard with no jumpshot should not be your Number 1 priority

i was pulling my hair out watching the illest crossover ever fall so low. arguably better than KJ if you consider KJ's injuries, though obviously healthy KJ > tim.

man I might get to pick today I better start doing some research. I really haven't thought about my pick other than "Man I Sheed Sheed would be pretty sweet" and "man Price best white PG available and I'd have by far the best shooting team that'd be pretty sweet". Now I'm stuck.

Somebody saying this says they haven't watched the NBA since 2003 or doesn't understand this draft. Parker is just now entering the years eligible for this draft, and all available evidence says you are getting 18-20 pts, ~6 assists a game guy who shoots a real high FG% and gets to the rim almost at will, where he both distributes and finishes surprisingly well. He has also been fairly durable thus far, which is more than can be said for a lot of the other PG taken.

Gah immediately after Parker went I turned my hopes to immediately hoping I could get Hardaway to pair with Malone. Another nice pick, not much to disagree with today besides Peja IMO.

Now that TP is picked, let me offer some food-for-thought in terms of team construction:

I believe (without double-checking at all and possibly forgetting someone) that TP was the last available PG who started for a championship squad. Since Jordan started winning in '91, only TP and Chauncy have won. Every other championship team has had the talent at other positions, with a good, but not great, guy running the point, and I'm including the '03 Spurs in this, as TP was benched repeatedly for a guy who I won't name because he'll probably be picked soon. Take that FWIW.

As for TP, I have trouble rating him due to homerism concerns. I really think he's been the 2nd best PG in the playoffs this year (sorry Deron), he was a god in the playoffs last year as well (Finals MVP), and the Spurs are known regular season cruisers, which hurts his stats somewhat (but to what degree I'm not sure). He may not be an outside ace, but his midrange game is actually quite good, and it's helped tremendously by the fact that he gets a lot of really open looks because people have to respect his dribble-drive. He's no Nash, but he's also probably underrated as a passer because the Spurs offense system spreads the assists around. A lot of their offense is based off of TP drive'n'kicks that oftentimes require 1 more swing pass to defeat the defensive rotation.

Defensively, prior to this season, I would have said the TP was a somewhat weak defender (as small PGs often are), who played smart by funnelling his weaknesses to Timmy. He's been a legitimately good defender this year, though, both on-ball and off.

The pairing with T-Mac works, as you just make T-Mac a better Ginobili.

I'm pretty sure dtemp is going to delay this roll we are on for like 7 hours, it's going too well (we have moose/franchise here too who are the next 2 picks after him with HighStakesPro, Luchy, and Shark all here also (the next 3 picks after them), basacally we have all the next 5 picks here or posted here recently after dtemp, something obv has to go wrong.

well in the meantime we can argue about which guards are best kj, mitch, hardaway, price, parker.

Also, while his raw numbers are pretty good as is, the Spurs have consistently been one of the slowest paced teams in one of the slower paced eras in NBA history. So, while Hardaway might have a few 20/10 seasons, he's doing that in 100+ possessions a game, while Parker is putting up 19/6 in ~88 possessions a game. I also think that while he's great in the half court game based around Duncan that the Spurs run, his penetration and finishing abilities can work well at any pace, so moving to a higher paced team won't hurt his efficiency.

Hardaway was the best point guard taken this round.

I think KJ is clearly the best out of all of those, I just didn't want to pick him because I didn't want both of my first two picks to have injury concerns, and could get a similar player lower in the draft.
