Moncrief was a sick pick, I thought people might forget about him and let him drop into the middle rounds since he just makes the cutoff. Also glad to see some people are actually taking players from before this millenium.

Richmond was a great scorer and I was actually considering taking him if he fell to me, but his PER is underwhelming and I think it is because he played on some of the fastest pace teams in the NBA during his prime. That said, he was a lethal 3-point shooter and a money 23 ppg scorer for 10 years.

Michael Jordan said Richmond was one of the hardest players to defend in the NBA. "There really are no weaknesses in his game," said Jordan. "He can drive to the hoop as well as take the outside jump shot. He reminds me a lot of me in his overall offensive display."
This is so awesome.

God i'm sure at least half this thread was stumped at who this mysterious Bowen guy was, and now you mention his first name and give it away.

Good job man, way to ruin it.

I am kind of meh on Rock. I mean he is nice and all but in a draft loaded w/ scorers he doesn't do anything but score--what I am trying to say is he doesn't do anything that sets him apart. Not a good defender. A deficient player when he got to Was. I dunno, seems early.

omg I just looked at the stats...Bowen is an EPIC defender...WOW! I might have to steal him when it's my pick next.

I like Bobbo and all but he's been warned numerous times and it seems like he's just seeing what he can get away with and keeps testing the boundary. Pretty gayballs

I figure with a few exceptions most teams are going to have some holes on D. I really needed to get someone who can score and in different ways and I felt like Richmond was the best guy available to do just that.

His rebound/assist numbers are not that much different from VC and his shooting % is better. Pierce plays better D but similar stats and less efficient. Reggie worse stats but more efficient and not much D. Ray Allen in the same boat. All 4 were picked much earlier than Rich. He is arguably better in his era offensively.

I have 2 4th round picks avaliable, and am trying to move up as soon as possible (as long as my guy doesn't get taken).

I obv realize that right now no one is going to probably trade their 2nd rounder for 2 4th's, but if it gets into the late 2nd or early-mid 3rd and someone wants to do it, let me know (as long as my guy doesn't get taken before then).

Paul Pierce >> Mitch Richmond. Their non-scoring stats aren't really close. Pierce grabs you 6 boards and dishes 4 dimes, compared to 4 boards and 4 dimes, and Pierce has played in slower systems his whole career. Throw in the D and it's a big gap.

Ya I agree with this. Offense is also getting really underrated in this league, it's still very very important.

Didn't like the Vince pick.

Was originally thinking about Ray on my board but passed feeling I was overrating him a little.

Miller is a stud. He may have gone early, I dunno. But he did things on the court at times that are tough to evaluate on b-ref--if you are comparing Rock to Reg then I just don't know what to say.

As for Pierce, their offensive efficiency is basically the same but if you want me to be a nit, Pierce's is slightly better--but not enough to really matter. His defense is significantly better. He was also a better rebounder and passer.

obv important, but also readily available.

I still think Richmond is a good pick, it's just not a knock out of the park.

I'm not saying it was an amazing pick. I just don't think it's really out of left field. He was a 5 time all-nba player and there aren't many all-nba players left. I think it's pretty good value for where it is.

yeah, and the pairing works too. Even though Kidd can't shoot for ****, he's a solid penetrator and defenses can't help but collapse on that. Part of it is just instinct, part of it is even crappy shooters hit layups/floaters at a solid enough clip where you have to D up
