I've already acknowledged this 100 times. IF. IF. IF.
Clark, among others, have spoken repeatedly about players like him who have just flamed out or never reached their potential for whatever reason. THAT's the list I want; not a list of guys who got hurt.

#2. Bynum had 20+ points in 5 games this year. He had 10+ rebounds in 20 games this year. He never had 5 assists. Thats not that amazing! You're acting as if his "half year stats" were awesome but they were: 13.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists. Are you really saying that nobody else has ever put up 13.1/10.2/1.7 and then gone on to not be a top 50 player of the past 25 years(because by drafting him so highly thats what the drafter is banking on happening)?
#3. Bynum put up maybe a 10 or 12 game stretch before he got hurt where he was playing in such a way that you'd think he had superstar potential. Thats not even close to half a season's worth of games.
His numbers aren't as good because he didn't start until Kwame got hurt. If you look at his gamelog from when he became the starter, it's domination after domination with a few key exceptions (BOS/SA/ORL and a game against Denver where he was hospitalized with a stomach virus but had to play because Turiaf got a concussion). The Lakers starting lineup with him was like +19pts/100. He DUNKED ON EVERYONE (except bos/sa/orl). Can you find me examples of anyone destroying Amare the way he did?
Look, I'm not justifying the pick based on the whole picture. He's clearly an injury risk, and who knows what'll happen when he comes back. But, if you want to gambooooollll and make a pick that has a chance to look amazing in 6 months, go for it!
I'm not buying the "OMG SAMPLE SIZE" argument because the things he did don't really require running good. High FG% isn't a fluke when half of your baskets are dunks, unless you think he's suddenly start jamming it off the front of the rim.
I really think he is underrated because the Lakers were only beginning to enter the spotlight when he went down. Everybody looks at the Pau trade and thinks it's the key to the season. It might be, but only because of the injury. IMO, the Lakers were better with Bynum, and I've watched every single Laker game this year.
They are going to be absolutely loaded next year, and given the offensive system the Lakers run, I really don't see any reason why all the pieces won't fit together nicely. This is why Timmy et al need to get their **** together and win this year to close out the dynasty, because it's all over once LA is full-strength.
