Short career, you miss out on some of his best years, etc.

Damn, there are better options available at just PF let alone elsewhere.

I was originally considering Worthy before I did any research, but when I went back over his stats and considered the other players available he was one of the easier ones to cut out of the running.

17.6 PPG isnt stellar, he only pulled down 5 a game. 3 assists per for a forward is nice I guess. I wasnt watching the NBA at the time, so although Ive seen many classic games my reference is limited but Worthy wasnt exactly a stand out on defence either. There are definitely players at his positions I would take over him still available.

Yeah I think my previous least favourite picks were Drexler and Nique. With Worthy what I dont understand is that even if you REALLY wanted him, why not pick a player here thats actually in danger of going in the next few picks before you pick again?

I didn't have to fight this decision at all. There aren't many 3 time champions out there with 7 all star games that are considered one of the best 50 players of all time.... lol Think what you will, Worthy was a winner everywhere he went, he just never gets the recogition he deserves because he wasn't a spot light player.

Just wanted to say that I would be happy to trade KG + my draft for MEbenhoe or GKA's. I'm pretty sure one of them takes my guy so those are the only two I would trade with.

7 time allstar or not, 5 rbounds/gm for a 6'9 player is really underwhelming.

Ive been thinking about Worthy for a while and I have to agree with those that said he is more of a complimentary player and not a lead guy to build around. I sort of feel the same way about Marion, but he gives you more rebounding, 3s, and great defense.
That said, since this is so close to Round 2, I'll reserve judgment b/c maybe BigCat feels another player will be around @ his 2nd pick and Worthy would not.

Nonetheless, 20/5/3 @ 54% FG is nothing to scoff at, but a career 3pt% of 24% leaves something to be desired.

Worthy's biggest issue is losing 3 key years due to the 24yr old rule. But he's a classic "going to be underrated by SE" guy due to playing on a deep and talented team his whole career. On another team he could easily have gone for much much better numbers. I think he may be a little bit of a stretch due to longevity, but this is the right zonality for him to get picked. Put a gun to my head I'd say he went about 5-8 spots too high.

also you seem to be forgetting that webber always seemed to be nagged with injuries whether it was his knee, his shoulder, his foot. immensely talented guy, but relatively short peak followed by lots of injury ridden seasons. i would expect something similar in our fantasy replay world.
meh every single one of these guys is one funny step/landing away from their knees exploding

Do you not understand that he was a 6'9" Small Forward? He didn't play Power Forward.... Please do your research before making ignorant comments.

Anyone doubting Worthy please watch Game 7 of the '88 NBA Finals. That is all.

I would say other options that are more likely to be snapped up than Worthy was before BigCats next pick are what makes it particularly bad.

Worthy didn't need to get rebounds his job was to get out on the break, run the floor and finish. I'm sure if they asked him to get more rebounds he could've.

Obiously most people commenting on Worthy are either #1 too young to remember his legacy or #2 under value his skill and worth

Worthy's job wasn't to crash the glass it was to get out on the break, run the floor and finish. Worthy was a very effecient scorer, always showed up for big games and outperformed his regular season #s in the playoffs year and year out hence the nick name "big game" James. I'm sure if they wanted him to get more rebounds he could've got more rebounds.

Ok fair enough. I overlooked Clarks point about him being on a really stacked Lakers team. I was more trying to make the point that you need to make a better argument for him then the awards he won.

All you've used to justify you're pick so far are his All-Star appearances and Championships along with 1 game. At least defend you're pick a little better.

You don't get named one of the greatest 50 players of all time without being expected to go in the first round of this draft. There is no player out available whom I would rank "ahead" of Worthy. I obviously juggled a couple names but none of them have the career accomlishments he does.

This is one of the cases where I feel like PER does a good job describing the value of a player. Sure if he was on a less stacked team he would've been used more, but his efficiency would've gone down.
