simple is the name of the game imo - and im not just saying that because im among the top picks in the draft.

With 41 players picking - I say keeping the drafting order as simple as possible is key. What happens if person A makes a pick when its actually going the other way around???....miscommunication will be at an all time high if we do a reverse snake.

If we were doing a live draft - I would be all for a reverse snake - but this thing is already taking forever - who knows how screwd up it will get with this formula.

i agree that a reverse snake is better, despite the simplicity of the regular snake. i'm w/ tbach's statement that fairness > simplicity.

its not like its hard anyway, right? We will continue to PM the next person, etc...

Yeah, but those who voted were all like top 10 picks, mostly because they were all the ones drafting at the time.

Last 5 picks were all active players, there are some real steals right now from the retired pool.

Reverse snake draft rests its case.

Good, now we can stop debating it and get on with the already-agreed-upon regular snake draft.

And if they're still here when I wake up, Im gonna be over the moon.

I like the Iverson pick, but mainly because Iverson himself never ceases to amaze me. I dont understand how someone who plays the way he plays isnt broken into a million pieces by now. I'm really sad I never got the chance to see prime Iverson play in the flesh. Everyone I know who got the chance has said he was even more impressive in person.

I'm sorry, but I'm trying my best here to go through each issue in a fair and timely manner. You raised the issue, and we voted. Tons of people have been in this thread the entire time even if they didn't have an early pick. We are not going to vote and then re-vote on issues.

Reverse snake +1 (though I understand if we're locked in).

it's understandable not to want to go back on something that was agreed on, but w/the current format pitting these teams against one another is going to be relatively pointless for half of the field

Yeah, exactly. Making the league more competitive >>> not changing rules for the sake of not changing rules. Changing rules midstream is really crappy if the rule change alters the correct strategy, retroactively either increasing or decreasing the EV of previously made decisions. That is not the case here - I doubt anyone would have changed their pick if they thought we were doing reverse snake rather than standard snake.

If you change to a reverse snake draft, you are basically rewarding the people who came in late by arguably giving them an advantage over picks 11-30 who were part of the random selection process. and did not get truly elite player but are not getting the benefit of drafting two players within close proximity of each other, like the top 10 lucky ones and bottom 10 late comers do.

The problem is that if we vote now then you guys can claim that the vote was biased due to voting during when late picks were coming in and them being more likely to be in the thread. So heres the deal....

Personally I don't care either way. My official "vote" is regular snake, but its really not a huge deal to me. If you guys want it changed, then you go and get the vote of every member of the draft. Do it via PM or here in the thread. Add up the votes and we'll go by majority rule. I don't feel like doing it though as I don't care which way we go and I've already conducted it once.

they don't have an advantage over picks 11 through 30 b/c those players were able to select b/f them in the first round. the reverse snake makes it easier to have balanced teams, but it can't overcome the fact that the benefit of drafting a player in the top 15-20 here far outweighs being able to draft a player in the late 40's and early 50's. given the talent distribution of players here it is not to your benefit to be coming in late in the first round even if the draft is reverse snake (obv not if it's regular). if the intention was to do a regular snake draft, then letting the player field expand this much was not a good idea. barring a series huge draft gaffs, players at the end of the snake are unlikely to put a competitive team together relative to the first 15 or 20 picks

the only reason its an issue is because all the lower first rounders are picking now. it was agreed to before the draft and 21 pages of discussion. it should not change
