maybe i missed something, going to read the rules right now..
You like Isiah way too much. Way too much. It's really not normal.

Also, Ashy, it's "would have," not "would of".

What does everyone think of Dwight Howard? I think it's a homer pick, but I def like it more than Isiah.

Not the first available center I would have gone with, but its pretty solid.

He is easily the weirdest poster on this site. At least most people are consistent, he can go from something serious like this to acting completely off his rocker in a matter of days.

IMO his current coach was a better C. (the big man coach)

This pretty much guarantees he gets picked next.

I'm just pissed because I want him to slide to me at 31. No fricking way that happens.

I think so too, but the Howard pick is pretty defensible. Dwight having a better career than Ewing wouldn't be the least bit surprising

the only problem with a Ewing pick is you are dialed into 1 team - a Pat Riley/JVG type slow down grind it out defense first team. Not that this is bad - it's not - Dwight DOES give you more flexibility, since he's more athletic then Ewing and can play with a running team. (Hell, people don't talk about it, but even with Superman Orlando this year is a small ball run and gun 3pt shooting team)

i'm sorta shocked he hasn't gone already

not sure why you don't think it's likely. Dwight's already a much more accomplished rebounder than Ewing ever was. And he dunks at will almost. And he's only 22. I actually think it's fairly likely.

Ewing was my other choice and this the main reason why I didn't pick him. He had very good years during the Rick Pitino including one year where they had the 4th fastest pace in the league, but still Ewing far excelled in slower offenses. Just not enough flexibility for me.

Hope thats not too detailed.

I figure he's 22, already averaging 20/14 and 2 without a shot. If he can learn to pass the Magic are going to be really good for a long while. He's already a very good defensive player and offensively I think he can still get better. Ewing was definitely tempting but defensively and rebounding wise I think Howard is and will be better although that would have been a great pick as well.

One small thing is Ewing was a much better foul shooter (IIR career 75 or something) Had to double check this, Dwight barely cracks the 60% mark. It means you need to make an adjustment for "hack a howard" (much as I need to prepare for Hack-a-shaq)...

He's got the tools to be better defensively, but Ewing was no slouch. He anchored some of the better defensive teams the league has ever seen.

I'm actually starting to like Dwight over Ewing.

Duncan and Shaq both have been pretty poor FT shooters and both have 4 titles each. FT shooting is overrated to me for players although in Fantasy leagues FT shooting definitely hurts.

meh, i don't think dwight is a bad pick by any stretch of the imagination, dude is a stud, but Ewing is probably slightly better. It's really close either way, and def. depends who you put around them.

FT shooting is not overrated. You want your best player taking that final shot in a close game. Its really difficult to do that if all the the defense has to do is foul to cut his production by 40 or 50% (not actual numbers since there will be and 1's but you get the point). Shaq found himself benched during these situations a lot more than a player of his caliber should. All because of his poor ft shooting.

Dwight is still a good pick though and I think there's a decent chance he will surpass Ewing in the future.
