Kobe has never had a rebound total as high as Lebron's this year. He's also never had an assist total as high as Lebron's this year. Oh, and, he's never had an eFG (or even field goal %) as high as Lebron this year. Ever. In his entire career.

Edit: Also kobe is almost 30, of course he wont have a 30/8/8 season or close to that again....altho I argue that 29/6/5 is really not THAT much different but whatever, go on being a kobe hater and not knowing anything about basketball and disgareeing with everything the analysts say.
Every time anyone says anything negative about Kobe, they're labeled a Kobe hater. Kobe never going to come close to MJ? Kobe hater. Kobe not as good as Lebron? Kobe hater. Chris Paul should have been MVP? Kobe hater. Three people accused him of "hating." How come there's no such thing as a Lebron hater? Is it because so many people Kobe fans are mindless and can't accept criticism? Is it because they're insecure and need their sports stars to be better than everyone else? Is it because they don't know any other words?

Or is it just because you can't argue my points?

I think all the pics have been pretty standard so far and I don't see a lot of criticism.

People are undervaluing Bird a ton. Yes Duncan and The Dream were on board, but its far from a bad pick. Especially when you consider KC is a Celtics fan, its a perfectly fine pick.

I might be like 10 hours behind on this subject, but oh well.

lol so he gets credit for taking harder shots than he needs to? give me a break.

And like I said, I would still take Jordan, and odds are that Jordan will be the best player when Kobe is retired, but it's a lot closer than people think.
it's not. kobe's superior 3pt shooting doesn't make up for jordan's far superior midrange game b/c bryant isn't that good of a 3pt shooter

Jack...........I'm not responding to your posts anymore becuase you really have no ****ing clue what you're talking about. I'm pretty sure 30/7/6 is close enough to 30/8/8, lebron is bigger and taller so he got 2 more boards and another assist, wow who ****ing cares!? Close enough wtf!? And yes you are a kobe hater and anybody reading your posts would agree. YOu life tilt me more than Vyse, I'm officially done responding to you. Now go ahead and cry to me about how I just cant answer your points and thats why i wont respond.

30/7/6 2002-2003....also theres zero chance Lebron james will ever average 35.4 in one season or 42 for a month or score 81 in a game or have as many games over 50 as kobe has, blah blah blah blah GOD you dont even have a clue do you? YES Kobe has a chance to surpass jordan, and although theres also a solid chance he wont, if you dont admit he has a shot you really are a donk and know nothing about basketball (no ban please this donk refers to the general person and not to this poster)
Lebron will easily score 35.4/game if he ever takes 27 shots/game.

Kobe took 1924 shots in 02-04, Lebron took 1642 shots this year. 280 more misses aren't a big difference?

in other news, how hilarious is it that "BigCat" keeps posting in the "draft only" thread that says THIS THREAD IS FOR DRAFTING PLAYERS ONLY, trying to get into this league when he could just as easily post in this thread or the other one.

Sorry, but I gotta give a big LOL to Kobe being better than Bird defensively and offensively. Bird may never win a 1v1, but was way ahead as far as basketball IQ and team offense. Shooting wise, he was extremely efficient.

As far as D is concerned, I question whether some of the Bird haters have even seen him play. The guy was never caught out of position, and fed guys to their appropriate assignments like nobody else could. He doesn't have a lot of all defensive nods, but you have to remember that this award was very statistics driven back then, much more than now.

IMO, Birds D>Jordan. This is more a function of Jordan primarily guarding the weakest wing player unless his opponents got hot. Jordan could clamp down better than anyone, but his offense was so vital that he was often given the easier assignment. Bird had no such luck.

I had bird as my #4 non-big man, although admittedly I would have taken the big men on the board over him.

It makes me lol everytime.

I'm going to head out for awhile soon so depending when pick 11 goes, I'll either have my pick up late tonight or tomorrow.

I think Shark Doctor said he was going out tonight too and would try and have his pick up later tonight as well.

You're right that nobody would have forgotten about these top picks, but we've had a bunch of posts that said "Player X, Player Y, and Player Z were all players I considered here too" or "Player X, Player Y, and Player Z should definitely make up the next tier."

Now suppose someone about to pick had planned on taking someone not named on those lists and a bunch of people chimed in saying that and agreeing with each other. Now that person is way gun-shy about making his pick and might want to follow the herd instead of making what he thought was his best pick.

Holla!
I'm all for adding as many people as possible. SHARK DOCTOR has expressed interested in cutting off new people simply due to the practicality of getting the draft done in a somewhat manageable timeframe.

What does everyone else think?

Is there a "24 hours and you forfeit" in effect? If so, I suspect there will be some forfeits. With respect to time, more people is definitely going to slow this thing down, but more people will also make the teams more fun to critique.

I don't get this line of thought. Did Bird not play against great athletes or something? Why would Jordan's and Magic's skillsets carry over to today but not Bird? I think I know the answer and I think it has a lot more to do with his skin color than his actual skills.

Bird would be Dirk with much better passing ability today imo.

I don't really care one way or the other. Does seem like it will take a long time and who knows if guys with 3 posts will end up sticking to the whole draft if we've got a 50 team month long process.

I'd set an arbitrary limit to the thing, but have no clue what that number should be. Maybe 36 and at the end we could have a tournament of sorts?

This.

I was thinking 30 should be the limit initially, but I think a number between 30-40 would probably be ideal.

The draft assumes that each player is 24 years old. Of course we're drafting on potential. If you're not drafting on potential, we're basically asking which player had the best career. The answer to that question is obviously Jordan.

A much more interesting question is whether you would pick David Robinson ahead of today's centers based solely on his college career? Or Bird ahead of today's forwards based on his college career and a single pro year? Everyone is basically saying, "yeah, they had a great career and belonged in the top 10." But would you consider some of todays <24 players ahead of a guy who played at a small school? Or a guy who spent his last two years in the Navy?

How would we determine winner's? Perhaps make a case for your team, and have people vote? For example.

Say I'm playing XXXX team. I write a paragraph on why my team is better, etc...

I dunno.
