It's like in pickup, my one peeve is when people take long 2s. (Esp when we credit a 3 worth 2 and a 2 worth 1) - Like, run the EV calcs, it's laughable. I take more 3s then I "should" only because my EFG% is soooo high given the added ratio
Guys are always gonna overrate their ability to hit long shots.

Anyway, if teams aren't taking enough 3s, they'll soon catch up. 3s are going up a ridiculous amount.

Yeah, I can see that. I mean, those back problems aren't just flukes, right? But then again, you never know in this hypothetical world (plus we probably take care of that stuff better now).

Eh. If you can get a few more years of peak Bird, drafting him there makes total sense. But I think the longevity concerns outweigh the added pwnage that Bird is over *insert goodly player here*.

I really wouldn't mind if the league ditched the 3 completely, to be honest.
An interesting proposal. I wish we could experiment with different ideas in exhibition games like wider court, 4 on 4, bigger basket, no 3s, etc.

GKA and i were laughing about this a bit and I thought about drafting an all white team just for fun. (or an all "guys with the same first name" team)

I know Phil Jackson talked about this in his HoF induction speech.. I like the idea of a bigger court. Not a huge fan of higher rims, partly due to the insane infrastructure overhaul needed.

Not sure about 4v4. In a way it makes sense. Player's Association would never ever allow it obviously.

A friend of mine always does a free Yahoo fantasy league and drafts an All White team. He won't even take Nash because he was born in Africa. Tries to stray away from Balkans as well but sometimes it's unavoidable.

be honest my man!

also, i too hate 2s and 1s, but everyone is so accustomed to it (and yet dont adjust properly) that it's an argument i would lose, so i dont do it. i just take a lot of 3s.

I suspect because certain coaches and GM are using a more math based approach which led to this conclusion...

also, fans like 3s.

Oh yeah, of course, no way would you do 4 on 4. It would be nice to see, though. Wider court would be better.

I say with the wider court, if you keep the 3, move it back. You'd really **** over guys like Bruce Bowen who can only hit it from one spot on the court.

Does anyone here think we should abolish the whole "injury-prone" argument. I think it adds a lot of great players who's careers were cut short.

I dunno..

I like it alot. It adds a flair of risk to anyone who had serious injury concerns. Hell, I drafted Shaq even though he's never played all 82 games. (Although he had a 6yr period of dominance, where before that he put up great numbers and in his decline he's still productive... I just need to win a championship in the league before his back and foot problems flair up)

1.6: Tim Duncan

Post defense wins championships. We're all going to have such stacked teams, and everyones team will be able to score. Whats going to separate our teams is the ability to defend in my opinion. I know its hard to quantify defense, but:

Tim Duncan has been All NBA Defensive Team every year of his career.

Tim Duncan has the highest defensive rating of any player of the modern era.

Tim Duncan is on pace to finish his career with the most defensive win shares of all time.

The Spurs have ranked 2nd, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 1st, 1st, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in points allowed per 100 possessions during Duncan's career.

Honestly I'm barely going to even mention Duncan's offense because none of these teams should have any problem scoring whatsoever. The difference offensively between some of the top picks in this entire draft and some guys who literally go undrafted is really not all that huge. And in my opinions its miniscule compared to the difference in the top defensive players compared to some of the poor defenders who will not only get drafted but will play key minutes on our teams.

One thing though that I will mention regarding Duncan's offensive numbers(and his defensive numbers too) is that the Spurs pace factor has ranked 28th, 27th, 23rd, 23rd, 19th, 20th, 19th, 22nd, 24th, 19th, and 23rd during Duncan's career which obviously means that his bulk numbers are deflated. Moreover this era is lower scoring leaguewide when compared to the 80s/early 90s. Therefore I think Duncan is a much better offensive player than his 21.6 points, 11.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists give him credit for. And a better defensive player than his 2.4 blocks and 0.8 steals give him credit for.

Intangibles are good too. Duncan, by all accounts, is a good leader and locker room guy. I've never heard of him having any off the court trouble. Hes stayed with one team his entire career, which is obviously important when building a franchise. Hes never had a major injury despite 3 times being in the top 10 in minutes played, and in 4 seasons he didn't miss a single game.

I hate the Spurs and I hate Duncan. But theres no denying his greatness.

Two time MVP
Three time Finals MVP

Dammit assani, I thought he'd slip on SE hate alone. Nice pick.

I would have picked him #3 behind Shaq.

wow, people are really enjoying the possibility of a LSU alum team or something. If I got the 1st overall pick, i would've gone with an all UNC team for sure.

funny you should mention this. i am a horrific shooter, but when we play 1's and 2's i jack them up like b-diddy.

don't have stats on myself obv but i probably shoot less than 20% from 3 which obviously sucks, but tbh its not like i light it up from 18 feet or anything.
