So Steroid Boy, you are on the clock and BobboFitos you are on deck!

Please post your draft picks using this type of format:

Quote:
Round #3/Pick #21: Player X

I chose Player X because........

Team so far: Player X, Player Y, Player Z

Because I expect not everyone to make it and because some may want to sign up late, here are the rules regarding that:

1. For the first round only there is a 24 hour clock for each pick. If you don't pick within 24 hours then you are out of the draft. There is no time limit on any other picks.

2. If you already know you are going to not be able to do it then please just say so ASAP.

3. Anyone can sign up until the end of the first round. You will automatically get the last pick in the 1st round/first pick in 2nd round.

4. If your 24hr clock expires but you want back in then you can take the last pick in the first round/first in 2nd round.

5. Again, I urge everyone to PM picks to other participants if you're going to be away for a while.

Don't know if we're supposed to clog this thread or leave it only for drafting, but man #2 is such a hard, hard decision. #1 is easy, 8-14 or whatever is easier, but... Do I go LBJ? Magic? Shaq? Zomg. I have no idea how I want to build my team!

Are we not drafting entire teams? Your wording about getting the first pick in the second round confuses me, does it not automatically go to Sammykid (I believe you said it was a snake draft)? Oh, and the selections were rigged, ldo, 28th?

Drafting entire teams and capping it at 30 teams seems like a better idea to me, but I'd be down for whatever.

Round #1/Pick #2: Shaquille O'Neal

I chose Shaq because many - including me - would argue he's the greatest big man to ever play the game. He is 2nd to MJ in career PER (and is ~significantly better then the 3rd best player, the Admiral). He also had a 5 year peak where in each season he was unquestionably the best player (1998-2003, basically). And since we get to have him in his prime, I'll take any of those years, hopefully 1999-00 where he only missed 3 games including the playoffs. I'm likely building my team around a slow paced offense geared to swing the ball in the paint (don't know when we get to draft our coaches but I have an idea of who I want!!!)

Team so far:
C - Shaquille O'Neal

Um, if this is going now, I'm out. Sorry, but this week is horrendous for me. I thought this would start next week.

You have 24 hrs to make a pick, so it's not exactly going to be a fast pace

I'll throw my hat in to replace if AD can't do it (unless of course you guys already have guys who wanted to get in earlier but it was full).

Sorry for being unclear. Yes, entire teams. If another person joins then they get the 31st pick in the first round/1st pick 2nd round. The person who currently has 30th(1st)/1st(2nd) would change to 30th(1st)/2nd(2nd).

Let Franchise take my spot. I;m not even sure I'll be able to get a pick in within a 48-hour window, the next four days are nuts for me.

Just to be clear:

We get each player starting in their primes*, but assume you are going to have them for the remainder of their careers. Building for now and the future is important.

*Primes = 24 years old for those who were in the NBA at 24, current age for those currently younger, or age of entry to NBA for those who didn't enter league until after 25th birthday.

we can drop you down to pick #30 and if that pick doesn't come up before next week then you can still be in.

I second the "This was an awesome idea" BTW. I'm still half-tempted to put in the time to make a list just for debate purposes.

I plan on welcoming this strategy, because I have devised a better counter strategy. (Which I'll keep to myself for now) Also, it's worth noting you only have a 9player roster, which means you cant have scrubs on your bench wasting fouls. Booyah

Assani - I think it would be a good idea to get the mods to delete every post in this thread witht he exception of 3.....your initial post and the two draft pick posts.

Its going to become a lot easier keeping in track that way. Keep the other thread open for comments regarding this draft.

(this message will self-destruct......hopefully)
