Don't forget that even if chances of getting the first are higher than making the kick, the chances of winning the game are higher when you make the kick, considering Indy still had 2 TOs.

FG is pretty bad there. Whys novaks history on 50+ yard field goals in his career? Made field goal almost certainly ends the game but probably only a 50/50 scenario. 1st down also ends the game but at 4th and a foot has to like 75% or more right? QB sneak or hand off or boot leg with an option for luck to run or pass? Plus a made field goal leaves a chance for miracle still where a first down does not. I think it's easily the right decision to go for it there.
