Why do you think Cain is a better wrestler?

Brock would beat him in a straight wrestling match. But Cain is still an elite wrestler, so he won't be dominated like Mir, Herring, etc. Cain's wrestling is good enough to not be trapped on the bottom, and that's all he needed. Once he started throwing and landing with his hands, Brock's wrestling ability vanished in favor of OH **** HE'S PUNCHING ME IN THE FACE ARGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Cain is simply a much, much better fighter on the feet. He's 5 times the striker and 80% of the wrestler that Lesnar is. He'd lose straight wrestling, but because he could escape the first takedown and neutralize Lesnar a bit, he got his chance to hurt him, which gave him the advantage.

He didn't have to be a better wrester than Lesnar (which I doubt anyone in the HW division is). He just had to be close enough to stay standing for a little while.

So sick how Cain just start unloading on Lesnar as soon as he stops spinning about.

thanks man, Cain shows nice composure.
So what is the deal with Sanchez? Will he stay at Welterweight now?
And any news on Shields? Im sure DW is glad he won but it's gonna be tough to hype Shields Vs GSP after shis showing.

I think alot of people are confusing Lesnar being gassed with him just being battered for about 2 minutes. You take a savage beast like Cains best shots for a couple mins and you're gonna look pretty tired as well haha.

he looked pretty out of it before getting hit by something serious

reminds me that eventhough Shields was promised a titleshot, there's 0 chance they will give him a shot at koscheck if he somehow upsets GSP. That would be an impossible fight to hype.

Hmm edit nvm, it's obvious that in that scenario GSP gets an immediate rematch imo.

In the gif it;s kinda hard to see the left uppercut Cain hit Lesnar with to rock him and send him tumbling around.

But there was one and it hit Lesnar's head.

that would make sense, in the animal kingdom it is common to dislike uppercuts to the head.

Just before Lesnar goes down at the end he is throwing uppercuts to counter Cain's onslaught. It looks like the blow that then sends him reeling toward the mat is a Velasquez knee kick to Brock's chest. But doesn't it look like Cain lands a foot to Brock's groin along with the knee landing on his chest? Thus a low blow collapsing Lesnar's remaining defense?

is Lesnar ever going to develop any kind of standup game? Mir (in the 2nd fight) & Couture seemed to catch and stun him with shots, Carwin almost stopped him, and now Cain finally did that. i agree with DO, Cain is a guy who finally had the size and wrestling ability to stifle Brock, then he was left with trying to trade in the standup = epic fail for Lesnar.

then again, if they do it again maybe Cain doesn't get out of that position on his back, who knows. i'd watch a rematch. or one with the Undertaker...

"you wanna do it?"
[epic staredown]

did he really just show up to root for Cain because he hates Lesnar that much? lol

Carwin had to back out of his upcoming fight vs Roy Nelson due to a back problem.

Just saw it scroll on EPSN. Will find an online article quickly.

it is my personal opinion from two years of mma training that grappling is much more of a learned skill than striking. like any random ******* who trains a bunch can become a competent grappler but they may never become a competent striker. i mean there is obviously some learning element to it but it's much more of an inherent skill.

I agree with phildo. Striking is much more inherent talent imo. Grappling is more sweat and blood and practice.

Brock's background makes him an excellent grappler, as elite wrestlers typically pick up BJJ extremely quickly. But wrestling doesn't really help him become an accomplished striker.

Cain seems to have an inherent talent for both striking and grappling. Pretty gross.

Others who have inherent talent for both: Shogun, Fedor, BJ Penn, Rogerio Nogueira, Jose Aldo, Ubereem, Anderson

jacare probably. his striking has improved by leaps and bounds lately and he's obv one of the best grapplers on the planet.

Kongo can take shots better than Lesnar.

By the end of the 3rd round, however, he could barely move around.
