This was overall the worst ufc main event I can remember.

There wasn't a single fight that was in any way entertaining save for Toney completely embarrassing himself.

The most exciting moment was when Maia almost got reversed in the 2nd (3rd?), after completely dominating the fight.

Watched the Ultimate Fighter S12 Ep 1 and the preview of Ep 2 shows a new house that looks kinda like the 2 months, 2 million house. Anyone know if it's the same?

Haha just coming to post this, confirmed same house. I was over there a bunch during filming, its sort of weird to see the house look decorated totally differently for this show, and no war room

I'm liking this season so far. GSP owning Koscheck during the draft was awesome.

That was awesome... karma for Brock shoving cops out of his way on the way to the octagon. Douche.

That was the first big UFC fight I've ever seen. Is it standard for heavyweights to get tired that early?

Rigged LDO.

Lesnar seemed really tired right away, haven't really seen someone get tired that quick before.

No. Cain could have fought 5 rounds. Carwin and Lesnar appear to have no tank

brock obviously had some weird opening strategy that backfired pretty quickly once cain got back up from the take down

It was pretty impressive to see Cain get up so quick on that first takedown. I bet that has to be disheartening for Brock when his main weapon is nullified so quickly. Kind of seems like Brock might have a weak chin. It seemed like the first shot that had him stumbling across the ring was kind of a glancing one.

Cain versus Junor Dos Santos should be a much more interesting fight.

lesnar is well conditioned, he got a little too aggro early though in this one and his aggression basically failed/he let cain get up. also, he must've got hit somewhere because moreso than being tired i feel like he just had no sense of balance (not just the stumble but his total unwillingness to try and get up a few chances he had).

I don't see how JDS can keep Cain from taking him down and gnp'ing him

Brock wasn't stumbling around because he was gassed, he was stumbling around because he was concussed.

Frame rate is low (it is a gif, afterall), but you can kinda see the uppercut Cain hit Lesnar with that rocked him before he went sprawling across the cage.

That's the shot I was talking about. It didn't land clean. It basically grazed the side of his face when the replayed it in slowmo.

Almost seemed like he broke Brocks face he was so sensitive.. What a great UFC except for the Jake Shields fight..

Even the shields fight wasn't bad. I think the drop in weight really took a bunch out of him. I'm usually heavy on the Brock Haterade, but I gotta hand it to him. His post fight ring interview was pure class. Cain is a sick sick human. Heavy handed and his motion is freaking cat-like. Never seen a big man that nimble and able to stand back up that fast.

Daniel Roberts gator roll FTW

The key against Lesnar is this:

You have to be able to escape from bottom. Going for subs is going to get you killed. Lesnar's top control is simply too good if you are content to be on bottom. Plus, staying on bottom means that you're getting the hell beat out of you.

To beat Lesnar, you have to be able to escape back to your feet and punish him. Subs are totally wrong, escapes are everything. That's what we learned from tonight's fight.

Lesnar is in a weird place where he can easily maul the great majority of the HW division, but against a good wrestle-boxer (Cain, Carwin with a gas-tank, maybe even JDS) he's totally vulnerable. His standing defense is the worst in the division.

im not sure how often Cain can get back on his feet instantly after at takedown, if we give it a 50% chance for example (also if lesnar didnt gas himself for some reason...), the fight coulda been waaaaaaaaaay different half the time and result coulda been the polar opposite.

we'll never know tho.
