So how many 10-8 rounds does Stipe get if this goes the distance. I mean at least the 4th, right?

Big man a dud, 5 minute engine is not good enough.

HW sucks, always has

Hopefully Cain/Stipe fight sooner than later though

Stipe could legitimately clean out the division

What shocked me about Ngannou is his age. I assumed that he was young because of his lack of fights.

However, he's already 31 years old. I don't think he'll ever get good enough on the mat to round out his game and become anything beyond what he is now. By the time he's proficient on the map, he'll be past his prime and figured out.

He'll always have a puncher's chance to take a fight because of how powerful his strikes are but otherwise he's too one-dimensional to stay a champion. Stipe really impressed me and is far better than I thought.

IMO, HW championship fights should be 3 rounds. Those last two rounds were really sad to watch.

Ngannou will be back, the guy is still huge & super powerful and clearly was dangerous even when gassed. He probably needs to go to a real camp with big grapplers and push the pace in training camp, he will be champ in like a year.

HW is a division where guys can compete to even 40, Francis will never have gr8 bjj but most of the hw division bjj sucks, he just needs to get to a blue belt level, improve wrestling + cardio & he's dangerous vs everybody.

It's possible Ngannou never improves and is just a slugger but even then he is top 3 HW.

This division sucks, him and Stipe are like the only guys that have come into it and made an impact in the last 5 years. And I'm not aware of any young up and comers that people are excited about.

He's not that far off from the title but yeah, Stipe does seem like a terrible matchup for him and Cain also would be if he gets back to form. But we've had guys like JDS and Werdum be champs at HW recently so I don't hate his chances.

Ngannou will not be champ in a year lol. You cant just learn wrestling / bjj in a year and be at a world class level lmao. Its a lifestyle. So many champions right now have been wrestling their entire life. Khabib, DC, Stipe all wrestled their whole life. To say oh just give him a year to train and he will be champ is just ignorant. Like DC says... theres levels to this game. All heavy hitters got destroyed by wrestlers tonight.

I actually thinks its embarrassing on Ngannou's part. Like what did he think was going to happen? Did he really think Stipe would just stand and bang with him? LOL. Terrible prep, HORRIBLE cardio. Too much hype too soon.

You make it sound easy to do at an advanced age.

By the time he gets to that point if he ever does, he's still miles behind the likes of Stipe and Cain and he'll be what 5-6 years older?

This is as good as Ngannou gets. He'll always have a puncher's chance to take the belt. So he's still dangerous. But otherwise that's it.

Stipe vs Cain is the only fight I want to see at HW now.

Obviously Ngannou thought that he was gonna KO Stipe quickly like he had been doing to everyone else. And even if Stipe tried to take him down he was not gonna be able to because he(Ngannou) is too powerful.

Well that failed miserably and now Ngannou was exposed and went from being the "scariest man on earth" to not even a legitimate contender. Stipe also showed what you need to do to beat him, so the blueprint is there for all heavies to see.It couldn't have gone worse for Francis.

HW is always super thin, the pool of guys to draw on who are 240 lbs walking around in shape is tiny and lots of those guys do football or something even if they are remotely athletic. I agree Ngannou won't get significantly better but in a division where Roy Nelson was competitive he'll do fine.

Remember when Miocic got absolutely clowned on the feet by Stefan Struve? Doesn't seem like that long ago, he's come a long way.

Trying to remember the last time I saw someone look as slow as Rampage did against Sonnen. A minute into that fight you knew there was no chance Jackson was landing anything. Sonnen gets winner of Fedor-Mir, if Fedor wins that (and I think he will) then Sonnen could actually get to the finals. Prime Fedor would crush Sonnen but the version of Fedor fighting now that lost to Fabio Maldonado? That Fedor could get taken down, controlled and lose a decision to Sonnen. Depressing.

yeah ngannou fought an awful fight, really chased stipe around the ring in the first. he hasn't fought that wild in any of his other fights. he'll definitely be back in the title hunt soon, and i wouldn't put it past him to ko stipe in the next meeting. people were always going to be results oriented about this fight cause when stipe wins, it was gonna be a blowout decision/late round stoppage or ngannou was gonna knock his head clean off in the 1st or 2nd. i expect the next match to be a lot better for ngannou with a more patient approach.

Once Stipe took a few of his clean shots and didn't get hurt, it seemed like Ngannou didn't know what to do.

Reminded me of the Ali/Foreman fight where Foreman hit Ali with a thunderous punch in the sixth. Ali responded by whispering in Foreman's ear, "George, is that all you got?". Foreman remembers thinking, "Yup, that's about it."

Stipe vs DC July 7th. DJ/TJ and Nunes/Cyborg might also be on the card.

Night of superfights

Yeah I remember reading an article about them going to dangerous crazy lengths, to mess around with a certain weigh in. It can be a pretty big advantage, shaving off a few pounds and dropping that bracket.
