Seems like it's exactly what it needed, a way to get GSP out of the way.

Yeah that is likely the end of GSP at MW. Got UFC 221 in Austrailia in Feb and gotta think Whittaker needs to be on that card. Have him fight Rockhold and everything is back on track.

That's true, I was thinking it would be a bad look for the credibility of the UFC to have another champ win a belt and then never defend it but why am I thinking that? The UFC abdicated on credibility quite a while ago.

You're right this makes it even easier for him to fight Conor (Hey, I can't maintain the weight I need for MW). I think that fight gets more likely every day (assuming Conor doesn't Tyson his career into oblivion and end up in jail which also seems more likely every day).

I'm glad that Carlos Condit decided to stick around and keep fighting but, at the same time, he is worried about brain damage which makes me think that maybe he shouldn't risk it by continuing to fight.

Rockhold/Whitaker for 221 in Australia. Cool that Stipe/Ngannou is coming so soon. UFC is vs Bellator that night so they need to bring a nice card.

I'm guessing DC/Volkan will not be the main event and the HW fight will go on last. Probably 1st time LHW title hasn't been the ME of a card in a long, long time.

UFC 221 is Whittaker vs Rockhold, the UFC is starting 2018 strong, i see it being a gr8 year for them.

2018:

Stipe vs Ngannou
Conor vs Ferguson
Conor/ferg vs Khabib
T.wood vs GSP
Tj vs DJ
Max vs Frankie

So many interesting fights next year.

Conor isn't fighting Ferguson or Khabib. Those are fights that don't pay that well (relatively) and that has a good chane of losing. If he fights MMA at all it will be GSP. He knows he'll lose that one but at least he'll get paid for it. GSP might not fight ever again, colitis makes things pretty rough for a professional athlete. He might just hang it up again and go out on top. If Conor can't get GSP he probably just gives up on MMA.

Frankie also risks being pushed aside depending on what happens tonight. Cub Swanson is on the last fight of his contract and if he has a good win tonight im sure a title fight will be the starting point on his side of the negotiations.

Interestingly, Joe Rogan says that Demetrious, Jon Jones and Spider Silva are the top 3 greatest of all time, excluding GSP, even though both Jones and Silva have both popped for steroids.
