Cant wait for garbrandt vs Dillashaw, his fight against cruz was awesome.
Dillashaw also looked amazing his last fight (same card I think?) So this should be very, very good. Don't really care for Bisping vs GSP.

Ferguson vs Lee at ufc 216 should also be good, ufc 215 seems really bad at first sight, anything worth watching?

And Lawler deserves the rematch with Woodley, he's really my all time favorite

I agree with all of this. I like Lawler so much I'd prefer he retire for his health, but if he is going to fight again give him the title shot now imo. He has earned it both by his performance in the last few years and his legend status that has earned others a shot at the end.

UFC 215 is very underrated, the main event is whatever but the rest of the card is good. Stephens vs melendez will be fun, rda vs magny is interesting for that division & the comain is most competitive female fight you can make. The whole DJ turning down TJ is what sours the event for me though, hard to give him much respect when he clearly just wants easy fights vs no names who are too green and have zero shot to win.

I'm mainly looking forward to Ngannou vs JDS. A victory there would shake up the division and make it a bit more exciting. I'm just waiting for the Black Beast to finish being a super hero too, can't wait to see him back

Ngannou is not fighting on the card as JDS got popped for steroids and "shockingly" nobody stepped up to fight that monster on short notice.

40 fights and still a top contender. 20 knockouts. Wins nine out of eleven fights since his comeback to the UFC, of those five earning performance of the night bonuses. Many consider him to have fight of the year three years running...good lord. He started his career 16 years ago with a 7 fight win streak. Who is a legend? What qualifies?

Do you consider jeremy horn a legend to ?
Number of fights got nothing to do with it.

He did great but legend is more to the very top imo.
real domination must be taken into account or top accomplishment over a long period.

Royce gracie
anderson silva,
GSP,
Dan henderson ( he did beat everybody ! even tho he had some lost),
Fedor
Jon Jones ( not,... lol), might need to put DC instead !

those type,

I agree with this list but would expand it to include fighters like bj penn, couture, cro cop, Wanderlei, Liddell, Hughes... I think you and I are dissagreeing about legends vs goat contenders.

ETA: anyone who is still a contender for the belt and also fought during the same time as every fighter both of us listed besides Lawler left?

Point was legend imo are closer to goats status than great.

According to Wikipedia, at UFC 197 Demetrious Johnson made $195,000 for show money plus 60k for performance bonus. Add in sponsorship money.

I wonder, is it a strategic financial move to just fight low risk fights and bank 300k+ 2-4 times a year? If it is, I dont think I blame him. I cant imagine DJ will ever be big enough to truly garner huge PPV numbers regardless of who he fights, right?

Both TJ and Cody talked about moving down to fight DJ so gotta think there is a good chance of the winner of their fight in november fighting DJ next provided he wins.

DJ would have his record so he might aswell just see if he can draw in a big fight.

I actually think after DJ breaks the record and they feed him winner at cody/tj for 135lb title it sells fairly well( for the lower weight classes). If they promote it well and put a stack undercard together i can see it doing 400k+ ppv buys, he will get points if it does that amount, it atleast will be a meaningful fight for him & as close to a p4p #1 fight we can get in the UFC.

But does DJ really desserve it ....
People work hard to get good numbers by fighting the best while DJ seats there and and avoid tough fights ....until someone bring the money to him like Cody or TJ !

He hasn't avoided tough fights at 125.

He avoided TJ. I hated on him for it, but let's not rewrite history and make it more than it is.

Ray borg pulled out of ufc 215 due to illness, we all know it's due to him struggling to make weight and had to pull out, talk about karma. I doubt TJ pulls out due to illness from weight cut, smh. I can almost guarantee you they could've gotten a last minute replacement but DJ probably said no as he said he would do if TJ missed weight, this is why we hate DJ.

Is DJ still fighting?

Not sure who they can feed him on 3 days notice. Could be someone on the card to let him smash.
The MMA Thread Quote

The only other 125lb fight on the card is Cejudo vs Reis & DJ already beat them both, it seems they want to rebook DJ vs Borg for 216. I think they should just force Borg to move up to 135, dude has missed weight twice in his last 4 figths & now he has to pull due to mysterious illness, ehh. So DJ isn't fighting, i think it's a better main event as well.

Poetic that he wanted the tomato can for the record and he pulled out.

My issue wit DJ isn't that he turned down fights. Its that he talks about being P4P champ and complains about not being promoted or making big money then when its up to him to pick between the tougher fight with more money/promotion or the easier fight for the record, he throws his toys outta the pram til he gets the easier fight.

Amen

Ps: he probably knows he would lose , lost vs Cruz previously.

When people pull out on Conor, he goes up 2 weight divisions less than 2 weeks out from the fight and fights a bigger man. Thats one of the many reasons we love Conor.
