I'm still in shock he submitted him. Once he got Carwin down I thought Brock would eventually win the fight but wtf out of nowhere since Joe was talking like it wasn't even close.

Jesus, if Brock can get his submission game that slick, that's scary.
Yeah Brock is scary. Could just be Carwin is a bum that can't do anything else besides knock out people out though. Granted, he can knock out 95% of the weight class in under two minutes, but still.

There will be no rematch. Cain and JDS are getting the next two shots.

A: Carwin isn't that well known

B: Cain/JDS waiting in the wings

C: Typically you have to have pull or get screwed to get an immediate rematch. Long time champs like BJ get rematches, not Carwin. Guys who get screwed like Shogun get rematches, not Carwin

There won't be a rematch and there shouldn't be a rematch.

People forget this, but Lesnar was a 4-time All-American wrestler (twice NJCAA, twice NCAA) and NCAA Heavyweight Champ. He's not just a big dumb bear like a lot of people make him out to be.

Remember: Before, switching to MMA, Brock was trained in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu by no other than Royce Gracie.

My thoughts:

1. Brock proved he has the heart of a champion.
2. He has no guard.
3. He has no boxing.

He should go back to Gracie to finish his guard training. Then to Freddie Roach for his boxing. That was excellent submission, I agree. He turned counter clockwise just enough to make Carwin's defensive left elbow irrelevant.

Here's the other thing:

If THAT can't KO Lesnar, wtf on this earth will?

I mean, there's not a guy with heavier fists on the planet. At least for a first round, I would rank Carwin above even Fedor for pure power and viciousness. And Brock survived it.

How in the world are you going to ever KO Brock? Shane was pretty close, but damn. I don't know what's more impressive, the finish or the beating he survived.

Saying he has no guard or no boxing is ******ed. He was getting beaten on by the heaviest handed guy on the planet. You can't judge his guard from that.

Saying he has no boxing is ever dumber dude. He dropped Couture and eventually TKO'd him standing. He dropped Mir with a jab. He dropped Herring within 30 seconds of their fight.

Carwin may be a better striker, but Lesnar's not at zero. That's a gross overreaction to one fight.

No one is which proves the point I have been saying the past year + that Brock Lesnar is a 2-1 favorite over Fedor and if they ever fight it won't even be close. Honestly, what would be Fedor's path to victory? Catching Brock? The guy has an iron chin as we saw tonight and even when he ate that knee and left hook from Mir. Despite his age, I don't see any way this guy will lose a fight for a long time unless he has some sort of injury.

easy answer: people who like money.

secondary answer: people who bet on him, then bet on him again at worse odds.

I didn't catch the short interviews with Joe after the fight due to the noise in the bar. What did Brock have to say?

Does anyone think the fight should have been stopped in the first? I know they like to give the guys a little more time in title fights, as well they should, but for a little while there Brock was doing nothing but covering his face and making no attempt to improve his position. I have to think Carwin was somewhat robbed.

Props to Brock on his submission though. That was top notch. I figured if Shane would win it would be in the first round. The longer it went the more it would favor Lesner. My only solid prediction is it wouldn't go past the second. That's a pretty easy call though for guys that size. Somebody is getting stopped.

It shouldn't have been stopped. Brock's arms and hands are so big he was covering up perfectly as well as occasionally throwing a blow back toward Carwin.
