Fedor was overconfident, that is all. He underestimated him and thought he could finish him when he hurt him.

Wow, can't believe Fedor lost. But I guess you're eventually going to get tapped when every BJJ guy you fight you stay in their guard and pound them out. Man that takes a ton of the luster off of an Overeem/Fedor fight. I guess now all we have left is GSP/Silva.

I don't think we need to come up with some narrative or reasoning for why Fedor lost. I think theres simply variance in MMA, and every so often Fedor is going to get caught. He was in legit danger against both Randleman and Fujita, so its not like its unprecedented.

Plus, he was getting outboxed by Arlovski before Arlovski jumped in the air with the knee strike fail.

And he had a very hard time with Rogers. He even got cut bad and got a broken nose.

Tactical error of a white belt nature staying in the guard half way like that against a BJJ world champion.

He did this the whole fight against Nogueira and was never even threatened by a submission. I'm sure he was extremely comfortable being in Werdum's guard and had little fear of being tapped.

I kinda think Fedor/Nog 1 made him overconfident in those kinds of situations. I have no clue why he wouldn't fight like he did in Fedor/Nog 2 where Werdum would have basically no chance. Just a crazy risk to take.

If Strikeforce is smart they will hold off Fedor's last fight on his contract for the winner of Overeem/Werdum.
