Is Nick Diaz the Brandon Cantu of the UFC?

I had round 1,3,5 for silva. Round 2 a draw or slightly Diaz. Neither deserved round 4.

Certainly didn't expect MMA to get worse over time.

Maybe just in a lull idk. Having back to back events suck nuts not good though.

well they have a lot more cards now so the individual cards are watered down and the biggest drawers seem to be the washed up guys from the boom period. Oddly enough fake wrestling is in kind of a similar rough spot. It's tougher to watch even if the quality of the top fighters overall is better. I didn't bother watching this one, had heard a rumor that I believed silva was that bad in his camp and still couldn't bet diaz. Silva probably just keeps getting $ fights he should win like that one when possible and avoids any real contenders now for however long his career goes.

Too many cards, too many weightclasses, too many boring well-rounded college wrestling cardiobots who trained mma for a few years and have no flash or real talent, who are also massively incentivized to keep winning decisions

this was predictable

On the bright side, this one did see more 10-8 scoring than usual.

MMA really needs to allow the 10-10. You might see more draws in the short term, but guys will go harder if the UFC treats draws more or less like double losses when matchmaking. Make guys earn wins to advance.

He was gonna be brought back to that weight anyway, though in a slightly shorter time period. My point is that his corner is almost guaranteed to be more knowledgeable about effective rehydration than any hospital doctor and the hospital setting served no additional benefit.

he got a jump start on rehydration and started from a higher weight than woodley.
As pointed out by others, the betting market said otherwise about this "advantage."

Silva 4-1 ; this was an entertaining sparring match to see but nothing spectacular.
A fight that delivered last night was that awesome comeback by Alves. He was getting lit up and then out of nowhere a perfect kick to the plexus.

30-27 for woodley is ridiculous, I had him 29-28 but it was closer than expected.

Just reading that Bendo step up to fight Thatch? He is giving up at least 15 lbs at the time of fight, over 4 inch in height and reach... crazy

Or he is just going to weigh in at 170? Guys a big LW. they are probably going to weigh close to the same on fight night.

Bendo has tough time making 155, he is a very big LW who is rumored to cut from at least 175... however, Thatch is one of the biggest WW`s who is known to be 195-200 in the cage. He is definitely among the biggest cutters in division (next to Hendricks and burrito-loving Gastelum who is apparently up to 215 between fights)

Alves/Mein was my favorite fight of the night.

there's always something special about hitting one of those debilitating gut kicks. Just awesome to watch, especially coming from a guy who was otherwise getting his ass kicked.

Thatch and Ben Henderson?

If Henderson could weigh the same as Thatch on fight night he'd have been a welterweight this whole time.

And you think I don't know anything...

Yes because that's how it works..

You're clearly completely uneducated on the topic. Have never cut weight yourself, and probably are just new to mma. Yet you continue to argue points that all the evidence points against.

And I am apparently the only one in this thread dumb enough to tell you you're wrong.

One is 6'2 and the other is 5'9 and the guy who is 6'2 also looks thicker. Seems to be a pretty massive "natural weight" gap between those two.

calm down folks, no need to argue about weight cutting lol ; it is not rocket science, it has been around for some time

Most of the fighters cut at least 10-15, that can be done easily. The bigger you are, more you can cut.

Now, there are very few people nowadays that do not cut (except for HW division and even there some do it to make 265). Gunnar Nelson comes to mind and he is fairly undersized for WW.
On the other hand, there are monsters like Tibau who checks the scale at 155 and then he enters in cage with 181!

This doesn't diminish MMA in my eyes as much as it exaggerates how big of a joke testing is in the major sports.

Except for "Adderall" of course. That test is apparently very effective.

yeah this really does suck for mma lol one champ gets popped for cocaine, GOAT gets popped for steroids, and Ex champ of strikeforce for weed lol. It's like a casual viewer will think this is a circus. All in one month Dana white's head must be spinning
