I disagree. Koscheck gave him the closest fight of anyone he's ever faced. Kos took him down and won a round, and very easily could have won the entire fight if GSP doesn't pull a superhuman sprawl out of nowhere. If Koscheck finishes that takedown, he beats GSP 29-28 on all cards and there is no prolonged GSP title run.
GSP is still a big favorite, but Koscheck has come closer than anyone else to equalling GSP in the UFC.

if you beat GSP, you're not equal to him. You beat him. Koscheck's fight with GSP was the closest he's ever had.
Past that, I would say Koscheck was actually more impressive in his 3 rounds than Serra was in his cumulative rounds against GSP. Koscheck had a real, non-fluke chance to win, whereas Serra basically got lucky with a glancing temple blow, and then was systematically beat down in the next fight.
Koscheck vs GSP.
Koscheck wins their first fight if this doesn't happen.
unreal TDD. And if Kos finishes that shot, he wins their fight basically.
