I mean, I think there is no house that accepts a 1M bet on MMA fight, right?

Mayweather made the bet, after this question pissed him off.

That article needed two sentences. Nobody in MMA uses the right, right , left combo. Weidman used it to perfection and knocked Silva out.

This wouldn't shock me. Either Silva realized going out clowning an entire fight is #notagoodlook or Dana backed the Brinks truck up to his house. Or both.

I'm guessing it's sinking into Silva that going out like that has severely reduced his earnings from his 10 fight contract.

Silva's tactic is clearly to make the opponent take the initiative so he can counter. He fought a lot like he did his last few fights and frankly I thought it was working. Ofc when he finally gets clipped then he looks like an idiot.

His reflexes are starting to decline though and he also got caught against sonnen and bonnar iirc when he had his hands down

he's fought like this, but he's never taken it this far. he's never deliberated aped being staggered before while leaning backwards. It's one thing to taunt your opponent with hands down, which is a legitimate strategy, but it's another thing entirely to literally lean backwards and stagger/sway/lean yourself to where you can barely move with your hands down.

Just watched the fight again. Silva def seemed to be put off by the end of the first that Weidman wasn't taking any bait at all. Silva had a lot of force in his kicks and punches but he is used to his opponent falling for the bait to draw them into range. He was getting really put off that Weidman was never in range for his counters. Also look at where he is looking, Weidman throws a right, then a weak backfist. Silva's eyes are turned to Weidman's right hand as Silva thinks he has an expert read and thinks Weidman is now following through with a right cross. Instead he just doesn't see the left hook coming and it catches him totally by surprise. There was no dive - he just didn't see it coming at all. It is quite possible if Weidman does follow through with the right cross that he would be the one lying on the mat 10 seconds later.

Yeah dana was just on sportscenter saying rematch is on Dec 28th.

Edit: Rousey is the co-main event. Dana also said that he thinks the rematch is the biggest fight of the year so im pretty sure he doesnt care about how silva lost the last fight.

A big thing for the womens division too - great exposure to co-main event with Silva / Weidman.

UFC 163 has UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo fighting against The Korean Zombie Chan Sung Jung.

Aldo is basically the Jon Jones of the Featherweight Division. He's #3 P4P and has some devastating leg kicks.

Meanwhile, you have "The Korean Zombie". I want him to win based on his name. He is a huge underdog, but has a damn near indestructible chin. His biggest claim to fame is his twister submission of Leonard Garcia, making it the first time in the history of the UFC that the twister ended a fight.

In the co-Main Even, UFC veteran Lyoto Machida fights against my fellow PSU alum Phil "Mr. Wonderful" Davis. Like Chan, Davis is a big underdog. Here are some highlights of the two fighters:

Aldo via KO/TKO. aldo has broken indestructible chins before, and Jung has been KO'd by roop.

Zombie has a puncher's chance. Not much more.

If Davis has improved his striking, he could be trouble for Machida. Otherwise, he has to rely on getting Machida on the ground. That won't be easy again somebody with Machida takedown defense. But if there's anybody who can do it, Davis is more than capable of it.
