Thats kinda how I feel about the NY Yankees...its so unfair that they abuse the lack of a salary cap, but in the end I can't really blame them and instead I must blame the stupid rules that are in place that allow them to take advantage of it.
no, you obviously haven't watched the fight, or forgot.

When I said 'hiding behind the ref', i mean that Anderson actually ducked behind the referee. I would love to see you argue how that is 'fighting smart'.

and I also blame the ref for not enforcing the rules. Anderson broke the rules of the competition and should have been docked points.

Nah, I rewound it and watched it in slow mo the first knee clearly hit him on the top of his head, the 2nd one however didn't touch anything but graze a forearm. At first I thought he was got kneed in the face twice, then after the replay I thought he was FOS but then rewatching it he clearly did get kneed the first time.

Re: MMA Spring/SummerThread

I was giving the guy the benefit of the doubt because the 1st knee might have hit him (the 2nd one was lol) but when they showed that he had a broken hand it looks suspicious and. Pbb should rewatch that part in slowmotion though.

The fight in Episode 3 was pretty enjoyable imo.

First went through his hands. Yea he went to his back after the 2nd knee, but I've seen delayed reactions to strikes before. A prime example is Brandon Vera vs. Justin Eilers. Vera connected with a headkick to the top of Eilers head Eilers was in the process of ducking out of the way and finished ducking but when he attempted to take a step back his legs buckled. It's very possible this was the same situation. It's also possible that despite taking a knee to the head he wasn't badly hurt but he knew he couldn't win with the messed up hand, but I give fighters more credit then that unless they are French, lol.

He probably could have kept fighting and it might have been a bitchy angleshoot but rules are rules and the guy has nobody to blame but himself for throwing illegal knees.

yeah, that's one of two reasons I am not bothered by this at all

1: Kasey will absolutely be back

2: Even if they didn't land illegally, they were clearly thrown with the intent to hit him in the head while he was on the ground.

athletic commissions are very much like an old boys club. It's very hard to get any sort of meaningful change to those sorts of things. There'd have to be an agreed upon change to the rulebook which is extremely unlikely to happen due to the bureaucrat-heavy, slow moving nature of the beast.

I would actually prefer to have some or all judges watching on TV, which I believe can often provide a better angle than cageside views can.

So Dana White has no pull? I thought he owned everything. Couldnt he just say "Hahaha commission suck on this 9 judges booYAH"

theres gotta be an inflection point as to the optimal amoutn of judges, at a certain point you have too many to not be paranoid about corruption, but 3 is way too low. 1 time Dana White plzzzzz

+1 to both of these posts. Its just ridiculous how people are acting as if Maia had no chance whatsoever and that Silva could've walked right in and finished the fight with strikes without any risk at all. Maia definitely had a chance. Silva's strategy minimized Maia's chances.

Dana does have a ****load of pull. But it's not infinite or anything. I'm sure despite his hothead reputation, he wants to utilize his pull in the best way possible.

Think of it like the vague concept of 'political capital'. He wants to spend his capital on the important issues, like getting MMA legalized in every state, getting favorable deals on taxes, and manipulating various things to protect the UFC, etc. Changing the number of judges is so far down the list he wouldn't bother to use his finite amount of pull on that issue.

Dana White is a figurehead Brah. Fertittas would need to start smashing some skulls to get things changed.

It's hilarious how full of **** strikeforce is. The match between Overeem and Rogers is a "championship" fight.

Well that's only because M-1 is a joke, and Fedor let's his management have way too much control. Strikeforce wanted Fedor to fight for the title but M-1 didn't want Fedor to fight Overeem because of steroid concerns. Rogers fighting for the title is not on Strikeforce it's on M-1 and Fedor. The ratings for a Fedor/Overeem title fight would've been huge, Strikeforce definitely wanted that fight to happen.

But Faber showed a ton of heart fighting back in round 3 when it really looked like the fight was over when Aldo rocked him with the kick to the chin and went in for the kill, and in the 4th round when he had him in the crucifix for 90 seconds. I think the 5th round Aldo chose not to go for the kill because he had too much respect for Faber to try to further hurt him when Faber was basically fighting on 1 leg.

i've been saying this since bustamante took him down repeatedly from the clinch back in pride.

Well I mean thats what M-1's excuse was. I'm sure the real reason is as you said, they are worried Fedor could actually lose, and which is why they made ridiculous demands so he wouldn't end up in the UFC.
