A Tyson v. Douglas moment??? "I'm not really here tonight and the other guy is razor sharp" ... or real case of a bad match up for Nunes? Or just a bit of a fading champ and a game challenger. I realize Pena choked her out, looked more like Nunes was just done, but is she the superior grappler? Nunes seems more stout of a bod. I haven't watched much women's other than Holly.

Ankalaav is the real deal at 205 but Smith with a broken ankle/leg kinda lame way to win

Ankalaav vs Blachowicz next would be good

Pena needs a finish, 30-27

Yippee. I'll stay on Nunes in III if there is one ... but the price might be exorbitant after that rout.

I was questioning Nunes fight IQ and cardio, but she knocked it out of the park. Very smart adjustments, going southpaw and keeping it standing until she was ready.

Missed the fights last night, was Pena competitive at all or just a mauling?

Going southpaw and quickly changing stances was a genius move by her team. However, continuing to take Pena down in the late rounds when Pena's only reasonable path to victory was a hail mary submission off her back was pretty stupid.

That's a matter of perspective. It was an entertaining fight. Pena had multiple chances at submissions but often lost them due to being unable to maintain wrist control or just general slipperyness due to blood/sweat. She had one armbar in particular that looked like it was sunk in quite good. However, from a scoring perspective it was not close whatsoever. Nunes won every round by a wide margin, had 3 knockdowns in round 2, and had 6 takedowns in the fight. Pena was getting picked apart on the feet and was unable to clinch for much of the fight and never even got in position to attempt a takedown herself.

yeah there won't be a III anytime soon, it was a rout

id assume mcgregor isnt fighting anytime soon if he is doing a Road House remake that begins filming next month?

Poirier/Chandler looks ticketed for UFC 281 in MSG, given all the other titles are either tied up or recently defended, wonder what the main event could even be for that card? Jones? Izzy/Peirera? Seems soon for that since they just fought.

If not McGregor, then Jon Jones seems like the most likely. He'll fight Ngannou if Ngannou is healthy, otherwise face Stipe.

wouldn't think Ngannou would be healthy by Nov 12th so Stipe/Jones seems likely unless they just make Poirier/Chandler the main? Or would have to bring in a big name like Colby or Masvidal.

Jiri/Teixeira 2 maybe? seems too soon they just fought...also seems pretty lame for a MSG ME

Izzy/Pereira at 281 @ MSG

Izzy opens as only -165...That seems way too low, kickboxing isn't MMA

281 shaping up to be a sick card, Chandler/Dustin as well

Guess they couldn't find anyone else to sacrifice to Pereira before making this one. Also MMA kind of is kickboxing when it's these two fighting, can't see either of them instigate wrestling/take downs. Love Izzy but think I like Pereira at that price.

I'll be pretty speechless if Pereira comes out and wins the title. Would be an insane transition to MMA.

ditto, he aint exactly young to learn the game either to just capture UFC title in his 4th fight after being unranked

I think Izzy schools him and bet it already

People talk Pereira got him twice in another sport (with bigger gloves, no clinching, different stance/range), so? Gastelum and Izzy was a flip going into rd 5 and no one has even touched Izzy since. He's gotten way better over time.

Would be funny if Pereira won though, there are like 5 guys in the division that would just take him down in his next fight

I hope Pereira wins. Izzy's last fights were boring. Something has to happen in the division

Excited to watch and bet on Chito Vera. Saw him vs Rob Font and he looked really damn good. I know he also gave O'Malley his L.

Just saw sick KO by Vera on delay, all 3 judges gave Cruz the first 2 rounds.....Vera always starts slow, was probably a nice live bet at that point

that could be it for Cruz, has a solid career behind the mic and he won't be main eventing any cards going forward. Has maybe 1 more fight night main event in him.

He very clearly won the first two rounds. He was way too fast for Vera for the first two rounds and then looked a little tired and Vera pounced. I thought he looked great in a loss.

Vera is always a slow starter but he hurt Cruz nearly every time he landed. Cruz didn't get tired just because it was the fourth round; Vera was picking up on Cruz's tactics and timing. The knockout kick was perfectly timed because he knew Cruz was going to move straight into it.

Call me crazy but I think Edwards has a decent shot saturday

Usman really hasn't used his wrestling in a few years now, he got hit plenty vs Colby both fights but he just has no power, got dropped vs Burns. If Usman's wrestling has faded enough and Edwards can keep it standing, I think he can eke a win out in a mostly standup fight. Just seems like a matchup for Usman where there might not be a clear edge anywhere like vs Masvidal or vs Colby where they're pretty close but Usman is basically a little better at everything.
