These are basically actionable threats at this point:

Because idiots will always latch onto macho idiots to follow. Doubly so if, for however long a time, they can back up their talk.

Conor McGregor : Coming to a Bellator / WWE near you soon!

I honestly think he's best doing a few exhibition fights to make some money - Jake Paul. Maybe Pacquiao if he can get it and then mess around in the WWE. He's been finished in MMA for quite some time.

He's very intelligent. He has no class but that wasn't apparent early on, or It was jusy taken as witty and funny. His talking made him popular. He gave us a ton of great one liners over the years. Then he backed up his talk in the octagon by destroying his opponents with a very exciting fighting style.

Conor McGregor was pretty much cool personified and most of his fanbase has been composed of young males that look up to him. These young people weren't even necessarily MMA fans, but they were huge fans of his.

I view this as the prevailing "casual" view, that Conor can not continue since he's not at the very top of the MMA world. As a fight fan, I see it as the opposite. Fighters lose and deal with great adversity, and Conor fighting through that adversity to continue to fight would be more impressive to me than all the glitz and glam and championships he's won.

Conor lost to the #1 fighter in the world (Khabib) and now twice to a top five lb for lb fighter. There are so many fights I'd still like to see Conor in. That could be vs a top guy (ex: Olivera), or a middle ranked guy (ex: RDA), unranked old vet: (ex: Guida), or hell even someone The UFC has cut (ex: Diego Sanchez). I'd like to see any of those fights.

I don't know exactly where Conor stacks up in the LW division but he clearly still has ability. In fact, I'm not sure he's shown any decline in ability from his peak as "champ champ" so as a fight fan, I want to see him fight.

The "casual" view was that Conor would beat Poirier in the second fight. Then the "casual" view was that Conor was coming back better than ever and win #3. So I fully dispute your assertion that the "casual" view is that he's done.

It's people like myself who can see through the Conor hype and that he's a dinosaur and been behind the curve for a long time. Conor's last win was against Donald Cerrone (lol). Apart from that we have to go back to 2016.

You might want to see Conor in a bunch of fights but he's miles off the top guys. If UFC is happy to continue going the way of WWE and selling trash talking / entertainment then Conor will have a place for his antics / publicity stunts outside of the ring which he sells fights on.

The problem isn't that Conor has got worse. It's that everyone else has improved and once Conor is on his back he's got nothing! Mendes dominated McGregor when he took him down.

Donald Cerrone is on the decline for sure but a win over him is nothing to laugh at. He literally has the record for most UFC wins out of the thousands of fighters who have ever competed in the UFC.

A fighter doesn't have to be at the top of the sport for a fight fan to enjoy watching him fight. I always enjoy a Clay Guida or Jim Miller scrap and I think most fight fans do even though they haven't been relevant to the title picture in years.

People put Conor on a pedestal like he was a god. He's not a god, just a fighter and I'd love to see him continue to fight because I think he still has a lot of fight in him (based on what I've observed of him in the octagon).

Cerrone has 36 UFC fights (first in Feb 2011). Lost 13 and 1 NC. So 36% of his UFC fights have ended up in losses. There are definitely a LOT of fighters out there with better records. Yes.....Cerrone has managed to carve out a career for the last decade in the UFC and would fight regularly in his earlier years so of course he's notched up wins over that time (as well as losses).

When Conor met Cerrone he was very much on the decline. The prestige of fighting Cerrone at that point had disappeared and he was more of a journeyman.

Whether Conor keeps fighting in the UFC for next 5-10 years will be a commercial decision about if he can build enough hype to keep selling fights. If there's money to be made keeping him on they'll keep rolling him out to fight. One thing for sure though is that the game has evolved and Conor hasn't. He's fallen behind the curve and very one dimensional.

That's super impressive, especially when you consider he's on the decline having now lost 5 of his last 6.

(although 3 of those losses were to top guys, another was a questionable decision that most thought he won, and only the last fight showed a clear decline).

Tribalism, sensastionalism, trash-talkerism ... these are some big elements of Conor's appeal. He's the opposite of guys like Tim Duncan.

Connor was quick and witty and at first, and if I remember correctly was pretty respectful when he won.

Now his trash talk is just offensive abuse, and he's shown himself to be a terrible loser.

Interesting to see what he does next. I know if I was a multi-multi-millionaire I wouldn't risk my health getting my head bashed in again, but I don't have the planet size ego Connor has.

3-2 Tj for me.

I really wanted sandhagen to knock him out.

I missed the fight, most of press row had 48-47 sandhagen

Consensus seems to be 2-1 TJ after 3 then it gets murky with the 4th and 5th.

Sure UFC is glad TJ won as he is a decent draw for the lower weight classes, especially with his new villain role

The bantamweight championship isn't being contested until Halloween. I'd hate to see TJ wait until 2022 to get a title shot in such a stacked division.

Personally, it seems like a good time to bring Cejudo out of retirement. Cejudo vs TJ II, winner gets the bantamweight shot. That's probably not enough money for Cejudo but it's the only solution I have. I doubt TJ takes a fight vs a dangerous opponent like Rob Font.

Watching the presser now, TJ seems intent on waiting for Yan/Sterling to finish up and get his title shot

at this point in his career, i'm sure he knows all the $ in that division is in being champ

Does Dom have a fight lined up?

That fight makes sense, he should win and he'd avenge an L.

UFC fighter Sean Strickland said he'd love to kill somebody in the ring
he's a wonderful human being
a fine representative of a fine sport
prolly 90% of the sport's participants will end up brain damaged

from the article:

"I would love nothing more than to kill somebody in the ring. Nothing more. It would make me super happy.

"I would own that s---, too. I don't know if it would make me liable, I might have to say, 'I'm sorry,' if the cops came, but I would own that s---. Own it. Be a psychopath, it's f---ing fun!"

Gane is a fave over Ngannou?? That was a short GOAT bid. I can't say anything about the lines because after dumping on them for years (Jones, Izzy, Khabib, Conor fights) I finally missed a few.

But Frenchmen are lover types, while Africans are beasts. I hope that's not politically incorrect, but it's my angle. Ngannou to finish him.
